Your thoughts on Shogun 2 Total War?

im running 3000-6000 men battles on 2630QM the clock is 2.0 with 2.9 boost but it hovers at 2591Mhz and in big battles i get around 30-50 granted that a take msaa off and half the AF to 8X as im on a laptop.

Seems im getting the asrock z77 oc formula it comes with some profiles so if i can use it properly i wont need em but if i cant they are alwasy there as a base for some tweaking im gonna try for 4.6 but probably wont get there

Most ivy bridge CPUs start needing a lot more volts after about 4.5ghz and then the temps skyrocket. So pray you get a very good chip

yeah i hope i get a good chip. i just read on another thread that the xfx cards are now voltage locked O_O

Depends on the xfx card you get, if you got one that was made a few months ago but the reseller never gave it out then you got lucky! Binned chips are sorta rare so don't get your hopes to high

they are probably recently made so deos that mean i wont have that good of an overclock as people with older 7950's? or 670s for that matter

Edit: Napolean vs FOTS.. which do you guys perfer and why?

FOTS easily, i would recommend empire total war over napolean and Fots over all of them.
Now i must be honest here, i havent played napolean But have played Empire Total War i enjoyed it but i perfer FOTS as it combines shogun 2 and fots in one multiplayer package.

FOTS does not have that much variety in units but empire total war has alot more but yet i still perfer FOTS as it has a nice level of progression

fots is a standalone expansion whereas with rise of the samurai you have to have the original shogun 2

original shogun 2 requires a lot more strategy so I like it a lot more. when playing online vs Fots players as long as they don't have carbine cavalry you should be alright

i have to say fots is better in my opinion, though its because i am more interested in that time period. its campaigns are truly amazing on higher difficulties. shogun 2 is also one of my favorite online games.

one thing i also MUST add for us shogun fans is that there is a mod available which increases graphical performance with no drop in quality which can be found on the twcentre.net forums. this mod is great when your using a laptop.

Has anyone seen any performance improvements with amds new drivers? 13.3 beta 2(i think)? My rig is just about ready to be built and i was interested in how it performs but no new benchmarks are on the web with this driver update
