I hear what you're saying Thicky, I just have never seen any evidence of problems with the Max 3 and the Mach II. I myself ran with this combination when the boards first came out - admittedly it wasnt for me, I hated the damn mobo, it was as quirky as hell with the original bios, but I'm guessing this has been remedied now. But in several months I never once experienced an issue with the max and the mach.

i dont know man.. i can't afford to lose my mobo, or any part of my computer for that matter (without rma) as if i do buy the mach 2 i will be spending like my life savings :D

and i already have a ic7-max3, with a p4 3.0e

i lost a max3 under my vapo. and it was a hassle reinstalling a replacement. and i even thought about selling my vapo and go aircooling lol.

decided to go for a plain ic7 for 40 quid. ima like it sofar didnt have to reformat.

i`m taking extra precuations like, turning off the PSU directly cos mobo will still be on standby power.

and i dont do suspend to ram anymore aswell as increasing the heating elements.

damn guys, i was really thinking of going get a mach 2 gt from phil before i read this thread! makes me wanna go water cooling now, i've done water cooling before, so im on familiar grounds there, but with mach 2 in a total n00b...

and i also have a max3 mobo.. which makes my chances on the mach 2 even worse from what ive heard so far! i was also read about how u guys took so much precautions too! with all the dc4, grease, etc.... i dont evne know how to do that at this point in time!
Well my experience of killing about 3 motherboards is do it like everyone Else says ie use DC4 and you really wont have any problems, even if you dont use DC4 you probably wont have problems thw two boards i did this with never gave any trouble yet, only trouble i have had is on boards i didnt go the full hog with when setting up, not all but most problems seem to be user related!

. But The bang for buck for prommy to water cooling makes water cooling a joke. Truth be, god is in the detail. ;)

Yuor choice, though there really is no choice :D £60+ £380 cooler alot cheaper then changing to equiv p4 system etc even if yuor not a complete mad man like the guys here :) its also an economically sound investment AND its fun and rewarding ;) and its not really very complex at its pretty simple even if you varnish up and board and shove DC4 in every nook and cranny, the only slight down side is its blooming messy.
