I seriously could not believe this. Just had to buy one for this price...

I was going to wait out and buy a third party R9 290X, but this thing is cheaper, faster and probably cooler than the 290X.

Cheaper than two 7970's :o

I think I'll just wait out with this for a third-party to fix up the 290X.

It's from Scan so it's definitely legit.

The 7990 is faster than a 290x and cheaper at that price, if you have the money go for it. I doubt by the time aftermarket coolers for the 290x come that prices will be that low again.

Yeah I seen this but to be fair, I can't be bothered with the ball ache of this card! Waiting for the Sapphire 280x Toxic stock to arrive, on par with a 780 for £260, laughing.

That's an awesome deal. Plus with the price of water blocks dropping for those monsters, you could put that underwater for a very good price. Win win.

Right now in Australia all the big cards are exactly the same price.

7990 - $699
GTX780 - $699
290X - $699

In your opinions, which one should I go for? I'm upgrading from a GTX 670 2GB OC (GByte WF) with a BenQ XL2410T 120Hz monitor, i5 2500K etc, etc.

I was tempted by the 7990 because of it's sheer power, then looking at some benchmarks the XFire config can sometimes be a let down.

Thoughts?

One big problem I have with this is that it is an xfx card... Chances are it'll be poorly built and need a custom fan profile but will still run warm but still OH GOD I'M SO TEMPTED.

Also, don't get unless you don't mind coil whine...

I was pretty sure all 7990 cards were the same? At least they all have the same cooler...

Yeah I guess so, I'd just be worried that it'd been assembled by xfx. It looks like the reference cooler and I hope it is as if I get it and it has poor temps I'll get a custom loop for it.

-Edit- I'll be getting it next month, it sounds like the drivers for it are much better than they used to be and I'm already used to excessive coil whine.

Get it fast, the offer might not be on next month.

Just bought one, come with 11 free games since they give you another code for 3 games when you buy it (in addition to the 8 you get with the card).

And yes, it is the reference cooler; just has the XFX logo on it. I'll be putting it in my rig tomorrow :)

P.S : It's the biggest graphics card I've ever seen...

Really seems like an excellent deal. I myself have been looking for a graphics card upgrade for a while and at this price it seems like a real steal. So I've got one on order too now. Thanks for the heads up on here guys.

So tempted to replace my EVGA 670 FTW SLI with one of these (or the Asus board for a little bit more).
Just not sure if it's really worth it. I'm not saying it's not better, but do I need to replace 670 SLI?

I'm also a little worried about coil whine. I don't think I've ever had coil whine, so not sure if I could put up with it.
Guess I could get one, try it and maybe RMA it? Just seem like a lot of effort all because it's a good price rather than because I need it.

But the WANT is strong...

if you have the money and really want it(as you said) then a 7990 will be faster. But to be honest i would watercool that gpu asap for some extra OC headroom and insane performance improvements.

+1 for keeping the 670s. Watercool them and you'll get a beautiful and fast machine. If you're like me and don't feel that you could do watercooling without soaking everything you -might- want to look at aftermarket coolers.

FFS. I just ordered an R9-280X too. Then again I don't really need the power of a 7990 since I only play at 1440p. Oh well, incredibly good deal though.
