Evening All,

Just found a pretty cool benchmark for cpu's....

x264 HD Benchmark 4.0 Download Make sure you install the AviSynth 2.5.8 Codec Download

1st pass of the encode is a scan and not very cpu intensive, 2nd pass is cpu intensive and allows your cpu to shine,,,

Copy and Paste your text file results not forgetting to to fill in your system details.

Nice scores man, slightly faster on the 1st pass than me, but the hyperthreading of the i7 got you on the second.....

I wonder what TTL's new Encoding rig would score....

I've got a rig testing at the house atm, I'll run it through if I get the chance.

Without looking at the benchie yet, is there a way to use it on your gpu for comparisons ? (most of my client work use gpu transcoding)

Nope, purely cpu for the moment... I have yet to see a encoder that uses purely the Gpu and give good results.

Gpu is good for rendering effects etc but for base encoding then there is a long way to go yet...

Looking forward to seeing your results though

Thanks!

But is not much difference between having hyperthreading enabled and mine which does not have it!!!

I think his rig will double our score....!!!

Just had to do a cmos reset trying for 4.6 ........ I'm gonna take your advice though cos I think it will most probably burn.... Temps hit the roof over 1.45v on the H100

Would be nice to see some other benches peeps....

Oh and mods,, should this be in the bench section of the forum or is that part of the forum just for you hadrcore benchers benching for the team ??

No time to play with the rig tonight, but here's a screenie:

l_capture.jpg

Errored out at the end. Something about can't save/find filename. I'm assuming it's the System Details text.

MediaCoder I tend to use for Cuda x264. Works very well on the cheapest of cards. Mostly any video format to mp4 container transcoding.

Nice one, so looks like clock for clock sandy bridge is almost identical to bloomfield.... JMMP can you do a run at 4.5ghz ?

Just went back 10 mins later and ran a 2nd time, no changes made, didn't error out this time:

Is lower FPS better? I am still trying to understand this test. Maybe this is a retarded question and I am seeing but really not

I'll test mine tonight, with my 2700k @ 4.8ghz and also if it will manage it then I will run it at 5.2ghz as well, as I know I can get to windows at 5.2ghz but not sure how long it will run for.

Faster FPS is Better, this will generate lots of heat on 2nd pass so be carefull

Cooling should be fine to be honest as all I will do is put my fans back on 12v while I do it, and then drop them down to 5v once it's done.

CPU is cooled by a 360mm 60m, rad with fans in push/pull highest temp's I have seen up to now is around 71c at 5.0ghz.

Not bad for 4.5 but I would say your probly closer to 4.6 than 4.5

What about now?
