Wyp's Desk and Work Area

Hey guys, Just thought that I would give you guys an update on my current setup, especially since I have moved twice since the last time I have shown my work Area.

Right now I am back home living with my Parents and I am working out of my bedroom, so my desk setup is built mostly out of some old furniture in my bedroom combined with different pieces of salvaged wood that I am using as desk tops.

I will start off from the right hand side and move left, showing off exactly what the space looks like and how it is used. Let's get started.

This piece is a recent addition to my setup (as of Sunday)) where sitting on top of an old desk and some large boxes is a large piece of MDF that was salvaged from an old caravan. It is great as a little work area that I can use for mini projects.

Right now I have an old AMD AM3 motherboard and a Athlon x3 445 that I will be using to test out FREENAS at some stage and where I also have a shell of a Game Boy that I want to repurpose as an enclosure for a hard drive for external storage.

At the edge of the picture you can use my gaming PC, which is shown in greater detail below.

Here is my gaming PC, the PC that I use regularly for a lot of the gaming content at OC3D. All of the hardware used for our gaming content is mine, as in purchased by me with my own money.

Below are the Rig Specifications if you are interested, though I am looking to change the case.

CPU - Intel i7 6700K @4.7GHz
Motherboard - ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero
Cooling - Corsair H110 (Soon to be H110i GT)
PSU - Corsair HX1200i
RAM - G.Skill 16GB 3200MHz
Storage - 256GB Crutial MX100 + 1TB Sandisk Extreme Pro
Case - NZXT H440
GPU - R9 Fury X, GTX 980Ti, R9 380, GTX 960

Just put both in the PC for a photo, WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW!

We turn a little around the corner and see Moctua, my dopey faced NH-D14 beside my Xbox One and you get a little glimpse of my main work area.

My main desk is in an old door, which is actually works as a great desktop. I have a few long desk/mouse mats over it.

Now here is my main work area, where I have two screens, one 1080p and one 1440p, which is where I do the bulk of my work writing articles and stuff for the website.

The PC I use is under the desk, but it is a very basic PC containing a mere i3, an old 60GB Hard drive and has a low profile GTX 750Ti to run the two screens.

To the left of my main desk is my bookshelf, where you can see that I am a big fan of The Dresden Files Series from Jim Butcher and a massive fan of Brent Weeks. I am reading the Mistborn series from Brandon Sanderson ATM, which is also really good.

On the Bookshelf I have a lot of random crap up there, including some SAO figures, a Bulbasaur, a Kukona and even a Link Amiibo.

nice set up mark, need to grab some DIY stuff for mine so i can add some personal touches.

Lovely set up mate. Moving into my own apartment soon where my lovely girlfriend has green lit a bit of a man room so would love to put together something similar

Nice work. I like the recycled doors and things. What's the Samsung monitor you're using on your gaming rig?

Probably a stupid question but if you had a motherboard that you could enable/disable PCI slots could you keep the dual Nvidia/AMD setup? Just enable whichever one you want to test (or whichever was better optimized) I guess you could have issues as you'd probably need both drivers installed at once which would conflict and create a singularity.

Not really a man room for me, just a everything room. My bed is right against the edge of the desk.

OC3D tea coaster? :)

Indeed it is good sir, Tom gave it to me for being a good worker. I think Parvum made it.

Cheers man, the setup is very DIY, but gives me time to save up and TBH the workspace is so functional that I wouldn't want to change it right now.

The Samsung Monitor is the U28E590, it is a decent 4K monitor but it lacks vesa mounts.

TBH I wouldn't, even if I could just turn one off completely. Yeah in theory it could work, but i doubt many games would like seeing two GPU drivers.

Just noticed your from NI :D im not the only one here enjoying Belfast weather :D

Yeah, lived in Belfast up until a year ago, but I do want to move back into the city eventually.

Shame it didn't work out living closer to TTL towers for you :(

I may not have worked out but I think me and Tom both learned a lot from the experience, though if I was still working in TTL Towers 9-5 I probably would not be doing as much game stuff as I am doing right now.

Thats a cool set up dude, even I hadnt seen all of that!

Having a good set up / space makes a huge difference IMHO!

As for the living closer thing it is a pity. Mark is a ing nice fella but we are making this work now.

I will need to get someone locally but Mark is working his chuffing nuts off atm and Im very lucky to have him working with me at all.

Cheers Tom. Let's hope we can continue to be productive.

that DX12 frankenstein build! Me likes! ^_^

Yeah, very Frankenstein I really need to get a new case and tidy it up a bit.

Hey guys, just a quick update on my setup. I now have finally gotten around making my own custom GAMEBOY Colour External Hard Drive.

Inside the drive I have an Crucial MX100 256GB, offering some very fast transfer speeds.
