i was playing cod2 fine last night. so i get up this morning and turn on my comp and the monitor starts to freak out. crazy colored lines, fading white screens, black screens, wierd crap. my first though is **** my card is #@$@#. so i try using differnt slots on the card then different dvi adapters. nothing worked and i freaked out. so i tried my 15in ldc and it worked fine. so i plugged the 19in dell lcd into a wall w/o a comp and it was freaking out still. what could have caused this?? luckily i think i still have it under warrenty i hope. also this evga 7600gt ko did not meet my expectations at all. my fps is horrrible in cod. i get around 40-100 a little higher sometimes in dark maps. and suggestions. im pretty ****ed b/c i got more fps with my evga 6600gt that only had 8 pipes. i tryed oc'ing it with coolbits using the optimal option but it froze and stalled. also why doesn't inrequire a power source to it directly? and my evga 6600gt did? thanks

i have also been getting colored lines everywhere.. i think its cooling issues i have been to lazy to unhook everyything and check out my heatsink my pc but thats what i think it is.. that is also what people have been telling me in my thread on here and other forums as well

Sorry to hear your monitor went **** up mate, tiz a shame. I've seen other peoples monitors go berzerk before and nothing they could do to fix it. Check the warranty like you said and see if it's still covered.

About the 7600GT.... 40-100fps isn't that bad mate, is that in CoD2 (you only said CoD but I'm guessing you meant #2?). I find it hard to believe that a 6600GT would outperform it though (I'm a huge fan of the 6600GT, uber great cards and oh so cheap). The 7600GT may just be a more efficient card and not require the external power source.

Your 7600gt should have dominated the 6600gt. Are you sure the settings were all the same? Sometimes when a game detects a better card it automatically up's the settings. But even so a 7600gt is much superior.

I have a heavy overclocked X1900GT and my CoD2 settings are 1600x1200 w/4xaa and all max detail & smoke settings, DX7 mode. Why DX7? Looks effin awesome in that game and I pull 100+ FPS constant. If I run 1280x960 @ no AA or AF w/no soft smoke I can cap the 333FPS constant :).

Try running in DX7 mode, you'll be suprised.

Never heard of that method before but it sounds feasible! I'll have to give it a shot some time.

Afireinside @ XS told me to try DX7 cause no matter what card it seems like DX9 runs like ase with that game.

i got an exchange from dell on this piece of crap monitor. (ehh it will do 4 now) my 7600gt ok i didnt explain myselt too well be4. i play cod2 in dx7. my fps had been very strange ave'ing around 70ish. lately it has been down to 15 (not in smoke) and then can shoot right up to 350 in one character step?? i believe it might have to do with my os. im running xp pro 64bit and i read there was a problem with nvida drivers on it??? im just gone buy an xp and see if it changes also prob gone buy a zalman vf700 maybe it wll help? oOo

That might be a good idea. VF700-Cu's are quite nice heatsinks. Got one on an X800 Mahself, works great. I've tried XP 64Bit but IMO, it sucks.
