hey people, yesterday i connected my rig to the tv but i was unable to get the full res,my tv is a 720p set and i was connecting via dvi to HDMI converter.

the picture was overscanned so i couldent see the start button or the x's

so i had to use the nvid control panel to resize my picture it was fine after that but it was something like 1220*701 and thats not correct.

also doing this via VGA is fine it connects at full res no problem,i am using the DVI cable on my current monitor so its not that.

cheers

Have you tried changing the aspect ratio setting on your TV?

Some TVs automatically change the ration or even zoom in to compensate for the needless black borders in shows and films.

That's all I can think of really.

Sometimes the TV tries to predict the ratio and adjust the ratio to make it look normal. Works most of the time but the TV can do crazy things and flip out. :p

Was watching House on Hallmark Channel and it changed the ratio from 16:9 to 4:3 when the adverts began to roll in during break. Fixed itself when the break was over.

BTW sometimes these preset ratios have little perky names like "Wide", "Zoom" and "Smart".

yer i have a few settings like that on my TV i will give it a whirl tomoro, and that thing with the aspect ratio changing is becouse you have it on auto if you changed it to 16:9 ot ownt do it

do you hav sky

Yeah I do have Sky.

I also prefer it to be on auto so whenever I go on a channel that doesn't have 16:9 broadcasting (yes they do exist), I don't have to get up, find the TV's remote and go through the settings.

It's a minor hiccup for a lot of convenience. :p
