Would you call this a good oc on a 580

Just bought a 580, and the max is will do before flaking out is 900 @ 1.1V

In the grand scheme of things, is this a low o/c, or average. I know golden cards do 1000Mhz but for the money I spent on it I would have thought it would of been a bit higher.

950 is about max stability wise for even epic cards like the Gigabyte SOC. 1000MHz on a 580 is like 1 in 100,000 cherry picked style good.

Always remember the silicone lottery, and saying "for the ammount I spent" well the card works fine out of the box any extra is a bonus.....

This was the Gigabyte 580 Windforce, but the thing is dude the max im taking the voltage to is 1.1

I can go higher in afterburner, but only had the card a couple of days and I've read in a lot of places that 1.1 is the max people tend to go.

1.1V @ 900Mhz is what I used to use, I keep at stock recently though because my uni room is too dusty, and the heat might get too high :/

900MHz core

1800MHz shader

4400MHz memory

Hi,

Not quite the same but my 570 will do 940 stable at 1.1v. I do have the option (as do you) to do the voltage unlock tweak which for my card then allows up to 1.15v. That might give me an extra 60mhz with a load of heat but it's hardly worth it while I'm on air...if at all.

I have oc'd my card to 940 and gamed at that however, really, it's not worth it for the FPS as the card generally copes well normally. Plus the extra heat and noise really aren't that fun.

I settled for 800 in the end, that way I've got my "free" 10% over stock and temps are barely increased with voltages up just one notch. Now I run SLI 570's it makes any OC fairly pointless, yes I get more FPS but FPS over the "perfect" 60fps at best just buys some more longevity...

Seriously though, any 580 is a monster of a card and should cope with pretty much whatever you throw at it I'd have thought...

Scoob.

took it back and changed it for a super overclock gigabyte. stunning, does 950 on the out of the box voltage. did 970 but started to see artifcats so turned it off

WFantastic card. heard a lot of things about newer games needing more than 1.5gb but its a crock really. maxed out at 1920 ,most arkham city uses is 500 ish mb. dam glad i took it back for a lower memory better clocking card

i've managed to get my EVGA 580 Classified 3GB Hydro Copper to 1040 stable.
