That batch of boards we have has WOL enabled by default, which i fully intend to use along with a nifty little program that acts as an AD addon called specops remote admin

Sadly most of the network doesn't have it enabled by default but it is in the bios so if i ever get a chance (ha) i plan to enable it on everything eventually and have a mass shutdown script run at like 6-10pm (depending on where the machines are, they have after school things sometimes)

spooky, i came across specops remote admin today, testing out the free one. What do you think of it?

Not bad, i mainly downloaded it for the wake on lan via computer accounts bit, seems to be quite usefull for a free app

I've had a look at the trial of the extended one but it doesn't seem worth paying for in my opinion considering what you get with the free one

yeah i see what you mean. I use wol.exe. you just run wol.exe <mac> simple and it works.

Yea i had a big script with about 250 mac address's all writen down, i gave up as soon as i lost that script due to what was basically my colleague being a tard >_<

What about all the heat from the motherborads and p.s.u.s on that wood?

Looks like a fire hazzard 2 me heat and wood,?

The PSUs are only 450 and don't get hot at all, warmish but certainly not hot

The motherboards are on standoffs so aren't directly touching the wood, the cpu temperatures are between 42oC and 50oC depending on the room temperature, the hard drives are about the same (working on getting these lower though by getting a bit of airflow going in the cabinets, that's a plan for the summer)

Certainly nothing that would start a fire unless of course a faulty component caught fire due to other circumstances but that's incredibly rare, and there is a fire extinguisher in every ICT room for just that very rare circumstance

I would attempt to pump some cool air into the box. It will get hotter in there as the PSU sucks in warm air, pumps it out a bit warmer, then suck it in again..etc..etc.

So i'd just keep a close eye matey. Also worth looking into your insurance and make sure its ok for them to be like that.

The boxes to have vents all over them, we will be putting 2 holes in the back with fans on to extract the hot air too, so that's all taken care of

All the heat issues are all down to my manager being a pleb anyway, i've been saying since i'd seen the design of the cabinets (about 2 years ago) that they were going to get hot, and it's been constantly ignored

Managed to persuade him now that he's seen the problems its causing, £200 worth of fans, or multiple PCs dieing worth £150 per motherboard bundle, i know which one i would choose!

As for insurance, im not bothered that's not my job that's my managers job, and the people above him
