It's one of the most well put together games I have ever played. The Storyline is very immersive and some of the cut scenes are hilarious. Cdkeys originally gave me the german version of the game which is censored so e-mail sent and 2 hours later they gave me the key for the non-german version with their apologies. I know this happened to quite a few people but at least they resolved it

So it uses Vulkan for sure? I didn't see any settings to change it etc. Not even on my Windows box now. It refused to load any footy streams (quite normal ffs) so I am on Dianoga watching footy.

The PC version only has Vulkan, They completely opted out of using Direct X.

Well, technically speaking DOOM (2016) didn't use DirectX either, the choice was between OpenGL and Vulkan.

A choice I wish more devs would make, Direct X has so many limitations from what I've seen.

All APIs have limitations. DX is still the best one for Windows, but Vulkan certainly has many benefits over it. Probably makes production cheaper across so many platforms and that is a major factor in today's development cycle. If they were making an exclusive Windows PC game, DX would probably still be the way to go.

OK thoughts so far. Have played for about two hours now (hour last night and hour just now).

I like it. The wheelchair thing really adds to the FPS experience. You could feel the frustration of being disabled which was new on me. Like the finishing moves, combat is slick and satisfying. I always liked dual wield guns and sometimes pressing both mouse buttons to really fill the buggers with holes

The performance is fine. Smooth as anything. Sadly DSR does not work and breaks the game, requiring a reload and then sorting it out blind. Shame, because I am pretty sure my GPU could easily smash out 4k

Hopefully they will address that. Hopefully... But yeah, class game so far. Pretty damn brutal storyline too. God, what a complete ahole your father was and that German woman? hopefully this time I can finish her off.

Has anyone been able to import their The New Order save? It was supposedly a feature (carrying over some choices you made the first game), but I don't seem to be able to.

Not sure. I just got the New Order for super cheap. I'm about to smash it out in one day(or try) so I could catch up on what's happening.

That's what I did too. I just finished TNO today, so now I'm ready to dive into 2. Took me about 10 hours to finish TNO, but I missed a ton of upgrades and collectables, so your mileage may vary.

Well I must admit my session yesterday (about an hour) left me a little disappointed. Yes the lazer gun is great but the game seems to be a little linear and the stages seem to be awful small before it launches into another big old cut scene. It also feels very "Doomy" in places.

Does it open up?

Well it seems to have opened up a little. The outside parts are gorgeous and I hope we see something like this used in Fallout games. Sadly it's still very linear, and the cut scenes go on for longer than the actual levels so far.
