All that power and the hardware will already be dated before they turn it on

That's typically the case with these kinds of systems. They can only use what's available now, and it takes time to build and configure these systems.

The first system, Lux, is skipping Zen 6 EPYC and MI400 for the sake of having a fast deployment.
 
I understand yes. It's just crazy how a billion dollars is still not bleeding edge.

It's like upgrading a PC. You have to upgrade sometime and can't always "wait for (insert next-gen part here)".

Lux will be based on the best AMD hardware available right now. Moving to something newer will require a long wait. I'm not expecting Zen 6 in early 2026.
