Wireless Network Booster?

Need some help finding something to boost a home wireless network or a strong adapter that will be able to pick up a signal in an outside shed that currently has a fairly patchy connection on a laptop. Shed is maybe 5 metres away from the house where the router is on the second floor.

Not really sure what the best option is so any help would be appreciated. Preferably something to plug into a laptop that will improve the signal.

place a reflective surface (tin foil) behind the router, to redirect the wasted waves towards the receiving device

A Wi-Fi signal amplifier has sometimes called "signal booster". And on which router has to med for it's. Also the Link-sys has the Speed-Booster technology for its wireless-G devices, or attach to GSM hardware equipment.
