Windows Vista OEM CD

Does anybody know where I can download Windows Vista Home Premium OEM.

The thing is I can't find my CD anywhere, but the good thing is that I didn't lose the DVD case where the product key is attached.

I lost it because I am too lazy to put things back where it belongs and hence this stupid situation.

I searched in the usual place such as torrent sites, but they are 'hacked & cracked'. Don't these people ever upload untouched version of Windows Vista OEM

Please can somebody help because I am in a desperate situation :( :eyes:

Im sure if you explain the situation nicely to somone from MS they can arrange a replacement cd.

Well I could do that, but it will take ages to come. Trust me I know coz I once had to order Service Pack 1 for Windows XP and the damn thing took I think a week to arrive.

Strange how you find it hard to believe that most of the downloads are hacked and cracked on such a site??:D:D

Your best bet would be to get in touch with MS, as Teknokid said. You don't know if an uploaded version on these sites has been messed with at all, and I wouldn't trust them on my rig. The longer you leave it before you contact MS, the longer you will have to wait, so go give them a call;)

I suppose so, but i am in a desperate situation. Is there by any chance somebody knows how much it may cost for just the cd.

*EDIT*

Well them downloads do mention that it is pre-cracked or pre-activated

Well I do have the OEM version of Home Premium which I bought for £70 back in the day.

One question, why do youonly want the disk? The serial won't work if the one on the disk is different =/

The activation key isn't tied to a specific DVD, only the version of Vista (eg OEM, Upgrade or Retail).

I thought OEM product keys only work on OEM version of Windows Vista (which ever version the product key is)

Oh errrmmm. I now realised this: why did I repeat the same thing what stuartpb said?

Must have something wrong with me!

You don't by any chance actually need your CD do you? :p

OEM has to be shipped with the PC it's tied to, and unless he wants to sell that as well...:D Retail copies are able to be transferred from one individual to another on the other hand

Nahh it doesn't I have had an OEM of XP for a while.. and have done about 20 reinstalls and it still works.. due to me always mucking about with settings, and also hardware changes and I am still running with it.

I am sorry but I am using my Vista right now (just installed it actually)

If you want, maybe you could buy it for a reasonable amount? :D

Can u copy the CD - Don't want the product key, Ive already got mine.

by the way u said that u installed XP OEM 20 times on your computer. Is that on the same computer (with the the same motherboard) or is it on different computer/or different motherboard

Nahh I'd rather not copy something like that.. LOL

No, it was on different computer specs, I have changed my computer around so many times since I bought the disk and it is still running, infact it is on a completely different computer now which is my dads with a different hard drive and motherboard, and the rest.. it doesn't matter. All you got to do is use the 'Automated Phone Service' to activate your product and away you go. If that doesn't work.. ring up MS customer services, explain the story and they will grant you an activation code with luck, I have never had a problem because they always grant me one, so best of luck to you.

No probz cause my replacment is coming in a few days. I didn't even have to give my product key which was strange - very strange.

Erm yes the OEM software is tied to the motherboard, although Microsoft does tend to turn a blind eye when you upgrade a component such as the motherboard.

Check here under the 'Transfer of Windows License' and 'Reassignment of Windows License' headings for OEM and FPP (full packaged product or also known as retail)

@ Hassan: Under Microsoft's EULA, copying of that disk is a no no. You must not:

EULA said:
· work around any technical limitations in the software;

· reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software, except and only to the extent that applicable law expressly permits, despite this limitation;

· use components of the software to run applications not running on the software;

· make more copies of the software than specified in this agreement or allowed by applicable law, despite this limitation;

· publish the software for others to copy;

· rent, lease or lend the software; or

· use the software for commercial software hosting services.

Call up Microsoft support and see what they say about getting you another disk sent out. The more you procrastinate about it, the longer it takes.
