Hey, My windows experience index was out of date so i refreshed it an my CPU score has dropped alot. I know before it was definitely about 7.3 when it was at 3.6GHz and Ive overclocked to 4.35 GHz and now the score is 5.2? That don't make any sense to me as its meant to measure calculations per second.

My Specs are

AMD FX-4100 with H80i
Asus M5A97 Pro Motherboard
16GB 4x4GB G.skills Ripjaws 1600Mhz
Sapphire HD6770
Powerecool 650W Modular PSU
Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200rpm 6GB/s
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm 6GB/s

Any Idea why this has happened? Thanks

are you sure you didn't have any cpu intensive application running in the background?

Windows experience rating doesn't really count for much.
BUT. Have you recently updated any drivers ?
Sometimes a bad driver install can knock it all to hell.

wait wait wait, are we talking about the global score or just the cpu score, that changes things :)

Highest you can get with a hdd is 5.9 I think. 7200rpm that is.

Actually i got a 5,6 score on a 4-5 year old 250 Gb / 7200 rpm disk i just put in my steambox project.
The case that disk came out of says "Windows XP home edition" at the front so go figure.
My point being, i'm sure new mechanical HDD's should het a way higher score than 5,9? Since they have also become ALOT better since win XP lol. ^_^

To get back to the Op's question tho, how long ago did you install the rig? also is it up to date,
no virussus, windows update running or anything else going on when you let it run?

Nah they've changed the way it rates stuff. Point in hand:

to this (Yeah my samsung SSD is the basic poverty spec one, in all honesty its slower than most mech drives in raid):

Good thing WEI doesn't mean anything important ^_^.

Ive got a 500gb wd blue and it gets 5.9, same for my brothers pc as well. Gotta love Microsofts for wei :L

Odd tho, this is my main rig score:

Hasn't changed since i built it 2 years ago and i ran it yesterday so the score is current.
In case you wondered, i got a 60Gb Corsair Force GT for the OS that has been running for 2 years.
I at least expected that to get worse over time but i guess either its a good SSD, or WIE is crap.
Most likely the last lol ^_^

Ive had the rig for 2 years, Im just planning upgrades at the moment (see my other posts) Its the CPU score im talking about not the overall. And i know the index don't count for much just thought it was funny for it to drop like that. The last driver i updated was the graphics driver don't see why that would cause an issue.

SeekaX do you have or have you had an FX-4100? I heard people say it was rubbish but never given me issues at all. I got that CPU like not that long after they came out. and on a budget. It was like the best FX at the time apart from the 6 or 8 core. Im about to get an FX-8350 soon.
