Windows 8

System Requirements

The Windows 8 Developer Preview works great on the same hardware that powers Windows Vista and Windows 7:

1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Taking advantage of touch input requires a screen that supports multi-touch

To run Metro style Apps, you need a screen resolution of 1024 X 768 or greater

Looks like you need more RAM

So will it not run it at all?

Well it says you need 1gb minimum for 32bit and 2gb minimum for 64bit. You might just be able to run 32bit if you turned Aero off and used the classic theme but even then you will have problems running programs because Windows will be using all your RAM.

If I were you i'd stick with XP unless you can get hold of some more RAM.

Will it work if I stick an old HDD in my sig PC and unplug the other one and install windows 8 from a flash drive?

Or can anyone send me a link on how to dual boot from the same HDD?

It will run on your rig in your sig no probs but I wouldn't use it as your main OS it's still buggy and crashes a lot and not everything works properly.

Okay I will use an old HDD to try it out. What about Mobo/GPU drivers then? There is no win 8 drivers?

You have to use the windows 7 ones. This preview is basically Windows 7 with a Windows 8 skin and a few of the features that Windows 8 is going to have, it's not the proper version of Windows 8 though. We need to wait for the Beta's to start rolling out before we see what it's really like.
