Hi,
I am running windows 7 ultimate, i am planning on upgrading to windows 8 with that upgrade deal. but my worry is that right now I am using a 120gb ssd and if (or rather when) I replace this ssd with a better one how will i get windows 8 back?

ps i have a installation disc for windows 7

Wait, let me see if I understand this.

So you have atm official Windows 7 Ultimate, and you want to buy the upgrade thing right?

I guess from there on you have the normal full installer from windows 8. The price is just a disconted version of the licence.

Im not sure, but I would bet on that.

so how would i get the installer, would i have to burn it on a dvd first?

What you mean? install windows 8? using the .iso provided?

Well, the way I do it is getting a 4GB USB drive and used an app like this:

http://hexus.net/tech/tech-explained/software/31765-how-install-windows-8-usb-drive/

(I dont remember where is the link for the one I used)

Then you just restard your PC and get the Bios to boot from the USB drive and it will install normally and way faster.

yes can i install windows 8 with the provided iso? and also when i upgrade my ssd do i have to install windows 7 first then windows 8 or i can install windows 8 straight away?

You should be able to reinstall unlimited times.
Once you reinstall the new one, it should recognise that the old one isn't installed anymore.
If not, Microsoft will give you a phone number to ring and they'll sort it out.
