Windows 8 boots in 8 seconds..

Is it possible they'll release a copy specifically for Xbox then? Or are they more likely to bundle it with the next Xbox/ make it an auto update for current gen or both?

They'll probably release it as an update for current gen but with limited features. No idea about their next gen xbox though.

I use a Samsung Focus windows phone, running the Mango update, and I really like the Metro UI. It does kind of seem like MS developed it just for the sake of being different, so that it would stand apart from iOS and Android but if Windows 8 ends up being similar in functionality, like a tiled desktop layout, I think it will be awesome.

I wish there was something more efficient at using hardware than Directx, perhaps nVidia, Intel and AMD should get their heads together and work on something.

I think they should relax, windows 7 has only been out for almost 2 years. Wasn't XP around for about 6-7 years before sales stopped.

I only got windows 7 for the first time with my new build in july and i love it.... Plus the UI looks terrible on 8.

DX is a big bag of poo, just another attempt by microsoft to make everything proprietary which has unfortunately been successful.

Agreed. Microsoft is holding back the world of gaming and it drives me insane.

DX was a neccessary evil to unite game developers that all had their own GDK's.

I want my games to be on par with CGI but that wont happen while M$ have the controls...

You can disable the touch screen stuff to my understanding and then it just looks like windows 7, but I think they should allow you to make your own UI... but other then a 8 second boot with an SSD what makes it worth upgradeing to?

They put an '8' on it.

Where I work as a sysadmin, we're only switching the workstations to windows 7 (from xp) this year. There is no future for media center UI in the CAD world.

Listen...YOU CAN DISABLE THE TILE INTERFACE AND IT LOOKS SIMILAR TO SEVEN!!!

This has been emphasized so much.

But have they built the Windows 7 look around the new coding, or the tiled interface or the opposite?

I'm a Windows fan, no doubt, I've had Mac and Linux distro's galore! Windows has always been great and works fine. I don't see why they have changed this for a PC, it completely takes the personal out of computing. It will be another same old interface that will get repetitive and useless.

I have an Android mobile, I love it... but only on my mobile. I use my PC for serious stuff, not socialising on Facebook apps that require paid API's and library's. My coding shall end soon I guess
