Hey, I am running a Corsair Nova 128gb SSD and at the moment only have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed on it (Google chrome and Adobe reader as well which only adds up to 0.7 of a GB so I am ignoring these for the moment) Now currently my windows is taking up 24.4gb of storage space.
I have been googling this type of thing for a fair amount of time and I more or less know what files are taking up a lot of space etc. the 24.4GB does include pagefile which is 5.9GB of space. I have also disabled Hibernate mode which gave me back a few gb, and I have disabled something else which people recommend but I cant remember the name of it.
Now I am currently monitoring my storage space with space sniffer and it is very useful. But I am wondering should windows actually be taking up 25GB even though I have things such as hibernate turned off as well as that other thing that I cant remember the name of?
all the files on space sniffer do add up more or less and here they are: Windows = 16.5GB, Program Files = 652MB, Program Files (x86) = 622MB, Users = 410MB and Pagefile = 5.9GB. So in total it's 24.08GB which is more or less there.
So the main question is how can I reduce the amount of space my OS is taking up on my SSD?
One question I have is can I move Pagefile to my storage drive without any problems or is it safer to keep it on my SSD? or should I just turn it off all together like some people suggest? (I have 6GB of Mushkin Ridgeback)
All advice welcome, as always. Thanks
