Microsoft just announced that they made available windows 10 preview for selected models (for now) through their windows insider program the users of the following phones will be able to grab the preview build in a few clicks. they shound have a windows insider membership (it's simple and free) and download the windows insider app on the phone. Here: http://insider.windows.com/
the supported phones are

  • Lumia 630
  • Lumia 635
  • Lumia 638
  • Lumia 636
  • Lumia 730
  • Lumia 830
Microsoft also has included a list of known issues and workarounds, which is nice actually.

Should be noted (from a personal view), that Microsoft is beeing actually very good at marketing their newest OS, by letting people upgrade for free and use preview versions for future OS. Also we know that the older devices like Lumia 520 are also to get the Windows Phone 10, if microsoft manages to build something that will run smoothly on such old hardware they have a huge thumbs up from me)

Good stuff! Shame it's not available for the Lumia 535 (despite having 1GB RAM) or the HTC models, so I won't get to try it out. I'm also kinda of glad though, not sure I'd want an OS on my phone that's still pretty much in Alpha stage.

It's not a ram issue, according to Microsoft because the update is over-the-Air they have to individually code for each device where that update file is going to download and how much space it will take. Don't worry I think they'll roll out the updates for other phones too next week. The OS is full of bugs that you don't have to be a bughunter in order to find. Still, the OS looks prettier than 8.1. Microsoft facelifted the settings section. And did some visual tweaking to the Live-tiles. Feels window-sy nontheless. but that's not it we sure are going to get more and more features added to it
