I ordered my 2 gigs of G.Skill RAM, Targus lappy case, and 100gb FireLite external portable HDD a few days ago for the lappy.

The lappy should ship by the end of this week/beginning of next week. That thing is coming straight from Shanghai

Yeah I figured they either made em here in the states or had them made in batches overseas and then shipped by the container-load to the states then divied up and shipped.

But after doing some reading and talking to Appple once the lappy is done they box it up and ship it directly to me from Shanghai. Quite impressive actually

don't expect anything big, except the price tag. conroe's amd counterpart will be a few hundred usd more expensive and the conroe xe will be untouchable

Nope, just got my Opty and im going to wc this sucker (and get some ddr500) and see what it can really do. Plus knowing intel, they will be a little expensive. , but they do look good.

Even though Intel is going to steal the performance crown when it launches, but AMD has the advantage of releasing their 65nm later which will most likely take back the performance crown.

I'll be sticking with my 4400.. i'll only every upgrade when my cpu suffers (which will be a long while)... other than that... i don't see any real benefit apart from benching a Conroe or AM2

the cheapest conroe will release at $250.. that's not expensive

Less than $250, the 1.8s will be $183 I beleive. ALso 11.5 s 1M pi has been broken already with onyl 4.6ghz conroe and not even on Ln2 yet I think.

Amd's gotta have much more than AM2 to beat this.

AM2 is nothing more than a new socket basically. Intel has a whole new architecture and 65nm cores. You cant really compare AM2 to Conroe because theyre not on the same playing field. Wait til AMD's 65nm to go against Conroe, and then make a comparison. Only problem is that AMD will be launching sometime in early 07.
