was looking to buy this mobo:

http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/techspec.php?categories=1&model=199

from a second party, it was RMA'ed and i guess it took abit to long to send replacement so its never used cept to post to make sure it worked.

Now the price is great, But i dont wanna get it unless it supports a DC intel ( I like to get the 805... great starter cpu that is cheap and would make a great tester for folding to see how it does ) the site is somewhat confusing to understand the cpu compatabilitys any elp be great

darn! any input on what a good ocing board would be? I want it to be at least pcie and not cost a bunch of cash. I need to upgrade with around 400.00 TOTAL this is for the CPU 805 Intel ( sorry amd your much to expensive right now ), and a mobo and a PCIE video card

mobo : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131538R

gfx : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102684

cpu : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116001

mobo + cpu + gfx = 350 .

You can check pricegrabber for a cheaper price. But for the extra 50 dollars , you can buy urself a nice aircooling hsf and be all set to OC. You havent mentioned that u needed ddr2 ram so im guessing u either already have it or are planning to buy it with funds other than the 400 u stated above.

You can change the gfx card to w/e u want but I prefer ATI cards on intel becoz they have a more lenient PCI-Express bus , meaning when u oc , ATI cards arent prone to not work unless u reach 150 mhz or so on your PCI-Express bus. And that will not happen unless ur using Sub Zero temps but at that point ur SATA and LAN would already have failed becoz of the bus being too high.

Just make sure u get a gfx card with a 256bit memory interface. It definitely helps in gaming.

Yes I heard that the ATI card go way better with intel and Nvidia goes better with amd. I may in fact take the advise here and get the ATI card and try to flash it. I need to look up the FAQ on something like that though just to make sure i dont mess it up. I think Egg also had a dfi mobo refurb on sale too but if im not mistaking it was AGP

That CPU was exactly what i was looking at, just to test the waters and see what it could do. If that cpu ocs well, and folds well, I will convert my farm to the DC intel

Well I now have bought my first part for this upgrade the mobo is here as a review :

I have always loved gigabyte, Back in the days with my skt A mobos and the mighty dip switch!!! That was big tech back then. I think I could handle a oc of 275x **. all I can say is wow. Plus the nice RAM voltage selection is nothing i have ever seen. the only options i have seen is .3v.... "rubs hands"

Not a big fan of gigabyte - the Asus board Z3ourne pointed out is the best for intel OC'ing afaik. But hey hope its ok :)

I do believe we have a guide on flashing right here on the forum ;)

we sure do, compliments of me and ham:

Here

happy flashing ;)

Edit: just noticed youre going with ATI, sorry this guide wont help much lol

Umm... guys... IIRC, the only GTO's that could flash were Connect3D's (and they "recently" started lasering their's to prevent this) and Sapphire's GTO2's... Not their regular GTO's <shrugs> Maybe I'm delusional...

Well I have not really invested into the video card yet. I am going to ttry to see if i can pick it up used. Ill try a few sites for this.

As in the mobo brand , i oced my buddies PC an older sckt 478 PRessy 3.0 on a gigabyte mobo to a little over 4.1 stable prime. It was not 100% stable , cuz prime crashed around 7 hours after, but hey to me that was way good enough for me. Plus egg has a few of these boards refurbs, and there is nothing wrong with refurb from egg. Only thing i will never buy refurb is a HD.

I guess another reason why I never liked assus is cuz they just dont look good , they look plain. I Like my case with the window. UV lights, ect.
