I have an ASRock P55 Pro USB3 motherboard which only supports sata II, I know that sata III hard drives can be backwards compatible but I also know that my board officially doesn't support 3TB hard drives and most drives higher then 1tb tend to be sata III.
So will my motherboard support 2TB hard drives, I know the controller on the motherboard does but the bios was never updated to support 3TB hard drives, Asus/Asrock do have an unlocking utility for 3TB hard drives.
But the only 1156 chipset based motherboard listed is a p67 motherboard I believe.
There is a modified bios around online but I don't have the equipment to replace the bios chip if it screws up.
