Having done a quick forum search and finding no official thread and with the game now only a few months away I figured it's about time we start a Wildstar thread.

A few mates of mine and I are getting pretty excited about this upcoming game so was wondering if any of you guys were also following its development and thinking of playing on release? It'd be cool to have a few more guys in the group when we start ;)

Some of the big things i'm looking forward to with this game are

  • Interesting player housing
  • Maintaining the "Holy Trinity" (Seriously I don't see the current obsession from developers to enable every class in an MMO to do EVERYTHING). If it aint broke, polish, don't fix it
  • Fun fast paced combat
  • A focus on endgame PvE content
  • fun art direction and a great sense of humour

Here's a couple of vids if anyone is interested

Ofcourse the hype has already been built, it's just waiting on the release now :D

As i said in the post above. Would be cool if a bunch of the guys here were on the same server. Always got someone to play with then.

I tried Elder Scrolls this weekend for the stress test. Good game but just not for me to be honest. I think WS is much more my cup of tea

I played in the beta, Didn't really do anything for me, Same as the latest ESO beta on the weekend, Just seemed like another MMO.

I think after Star Wars Galaxies was shut down I lost interest, Now that was a game, Want something shiny that costs loads ? Sure just go grind for it.
Wanna decorate your house ? Go do it.

Wanna go around space blowing crap up and after that decorate the inside of your ship and also get better armour and weapons and maybe have 7 other people onboard manning the weapons ? Go do it.

I think I've actually tried every MMO since SWG and none can deliver what that had, Freedom to do what you want and go where you want.

These new games are just too restrictive and the companies behind them are too greedy for their own good.

I share your feelings in regard to es online. I tried to sum it up how the game felt for me(with fellow testers), and the best I got was a more refined LOTRO in Tamriel. For an mmo (hate using excuses for lesser graphics but...) it looks really good and the attention to the little details.

I do have my eye set on the Dominion as a Stalker. What can go wrong

Yeah I just don't seem to get on with the realistic raw style when it comes to MMOs. If i'm spending time in an online world I want it to be over the top, colourful and fun a la WoW. Also as i'vve said above I don't understand the obsession developers have with moving away from the holy trinity. I rather like having a set group role and then an off spec for mixing it up rather than being a jack of all trades

I hope they don't go with a F2P model, Always makes the game feel cheap as real money market places are introduced :(

Couldn't agree with you more on all accounts. The sense of having a defining role within a group, that naturally grouping together for quests/challenges to offset ones weakness does add to the experience. The one aspect of mmo's that does need changing is more aiming/skill rather than tab+skill key. Hopefully Wildstar will focus more on that.

Are you going to be Excile or Dominion, that's the question? ^_^

My friends and I are currently swaying towards Dominion. You?

I might be up for joining in on this. Perhaps you should keep a list of interested people. It might pull in more enthusiasm when the army of OC3D grows.

Definitely would be cool to play with like minded PC enthusiasts.

Dominion without question. Playing an evil, snobby and rather elitest stalker does have its appeal

Anyone get in the beta we just had. I was lucky enough to and was pretty blown away. Sure it needs some fixes here and there but on the whole i was very very very impressed
