Wifi Sharing

Hi,
At uni in my accommodation there isnt wifi. Instead in each room there are 2 ethernet ports.
That will be fine for my desktop, and possibly laptop, and xbox too...

But my phone and iPad obviously couldnt connect through that.

Is it possible to get the internet through ethernet to the desktop, then use the built in wifi card on the P8Z77-v Deluxe to broadcast a wifi network for my other devices? If I could do this, I'm guessing I'd need to leave the PC on 24/7 (ish) and connected through the uni's log-in?
If I cant do this, would it be possible to buy a router or range extender and plug that into one of the ethernet ports, then connect through that? Or would the login to the university's page not work through that?

Thanks :)

Haha, I think it's pretty standard they dont?
My sister's had ethernet ports. I think they'll probably have some form of wifi in lecture rooms and the actual libraries and stuff - just not in accommodation I dont think

Thanks for that.
I have managed to set it up, but connection and discovery are very unstable.

I thought it was possible to do it through Asus WiFi go - but no idea how

You will be allowed a switch or Access Point, (or a router if used as a AP, do not connect he WAN port to the Ethernet socket).

When I was in halls I used a router with one of the Ethernet ports connected to the uni's Ethernet socket. I had the SSID hidden and I used my laptop wireless no problem xD.

Yes you would use that an connect it to the uni network using one of the yellow ports. That will basicly make every device connected to that AP via ethernet or wireless act as those it was connect to uni Ethernet socket.

Then you would have to use the VPN / Proxy for the uni.
