got a wifi dongle to use for my ds today, installed it by the instructions

but the ds wont pick up the ip adress (it can detect the connection ok tho:sleep: )

windows says the connection as "limited or no connectivity"

i have tried several usb ports as well including in and out of its docking thing.

please help!!

cheers.

My mate had one of those too and it didn't work

do you not have a router at all? Mine connects straight to my router as long as I use the IPCONFIG settings.

I think you have to bridge the connection but I couldn't firgure it out for the life of me

ok well i got somewhere, although not very far:whack:

manually configured the ip,dns etc(random numbers) set it all up but now the ds says "connected but couldnt connect to server" with those settings

and when i set the ds to "auto obtain" dns and ip adresses it gives me "cannot find ip"

the pc recognises the wifi adaper now though on a plus note lol.

ive set allowances in my firewall for it too btw.

thanks for all your help, keep it coming!:D

well i got that mofo working after a whole day nearly!:D

i must say mario kart ds online is pretty cool:yumyum:

to any ds owners my mario kart freind code is:317909-899420

aka jason.

cheers.

not sure really i just spent all day fiddling away and searching the webzor for help then came across some program called fping on a gamer site i know and hey presto i clicked it then tried my ds and it passed the connection test:cool:

then again it might have been after all the fiddling i did to the settings on the ds/pc then got fed up and thought i would let the auto stuff do its job and what do you know it done it?:p

i did use fping right before it connected up...

cheers.

The annoying thing about it is - with these sorta things u can waster a whole day messing about, trying to get it working and everything fails, so u turn off and go to bed.

Next day u switch on and it works ! With u stood there like "wtEf!".

QFT:)

on another note...

upon closer inspection and some slight fiddling i have found what really made it work!,i almost feel like slapping myself its so simple:sleep:

You MUST "share" your internet connection with your wifi dongle/adapter

although there was no mention at all about this or anything to do with shared connections in any manual i read.

It must be done for your device to communicate properly and establish a proper connection with your pc's internet.

The downside is that unfortunately if you already share your internet connection for your home lan etc then you will have to sacrifice it by turning connection sharing off and putting it to your wifi dongle instead.

Which kinda sucks that i cant play ds and let ppl use the "family" computer at the same time, afaik theres no way around this:(

You can either bridge connections (depends what setup you use), or I'm pretty sure you can share an internet connection to more than one network connection (either that or you just connect your dongle to a client pc and then re-share the shared connection on that (I hope you understand this :p)).
