WiFi cards and transfers

Lets talk about the wireless thing, transmissions and speed.

I ve recently got a 300mbps router. I have 2 PC. I need 2 wireless cards of 300mbps each in order to have highest possible speed when I transfer files between them, right?

Right now, I had a pci card of 54mbps in the first pc, and I just bought temporarily this usb card of 150mbps in the second pc.
So my current speed is 54mbps.

Shall I see big difference if I get two 300mbps cards? Or maybe I should just replace the 54mbps card with a 150/300mbps one?

The 300mbps will give you faster theoretical speeds, which means nothing. Just run a speed test on your computer and if you are saturating all 54mbps get the 300 one. Also chances are the 300 one may also have a better antenna.

So you tell me to stay as I am and not buy faster cards?
Right now I have--> router 300mbps, card 54mbps, card 150mbps
so I cant do any special tests, just a file transfer under these elements. The tranfer speed for a file of 150MB is 90'-120', is it a good speed?

You mean that cards of 150mbps usually have bad antennas?

As with most hardware, you get what you pay for, but 150mbps use 1 ariel, the 300mbps use 2 ariels, and most 300mbps card (the decent ones) are usually dual band, so can use the 5GHz channels as well as the 2.4GHz channels.

Not clear I m afraid, do u suggest me to go for 300mbps cards for better speed, or it would be pointless as the other friend said?
 
I'll echo what TTL said: Homeplugs > WiFi.

My PC is thirty feet away from my Virgin Media Superhub 2 with 5ghz WiFi and I have a 5ghz WiFi adapter plugged into it. My broadband speed is 152mb/s, but over WiFi I get less than 50mb/s. No channel conflicts, no signal drop, just a third of the speed I should get.

Using 10/100 ethernet homeplugs, I get 90mb/s. If I upgraded to gigabit ethernet I'd get the full 152mb/s.

And yeah, I should really run a cat 5e cable from router to PC but rented property, no holes in the walls, meh.

We r talking for wireless transmissions between pc s of the same local network.
Whats your router, your cards, your internal speed?
 
I think it was in reference to EoP? Not sure. Also what do you even use the connection for? As I dont see it stated anywhere.

on a completely irrelevant note get the X99 Deluxe just for the wifi :D really nice.
