Why no 1440p 24" monitors?

I'm sure this has been asked a million times before, but I was after a new monitor recently and I noticed that there weren't any 24" 1440p monitors in the market at all, none that I noticed anyway.

Personally I don't want a massive 27" monitor in my face and quite frankly I don't have the room for one. So why is it that manufacturers decided not to make them? Seems like a massive oversight to me.

Because the resolution is generally considered too high for a monitor that size.

Icons would be too small, as would text.

Same goes for the people who complain all the time that they can't get 1920x1080 screen on a 13inch ultrabook - and it may sound good, but the icons are tiny and it's just straining on your eyes to use. A friend of mine has an Alienware MX11 with a 720p screen which IMO is too small.

Just isn't really much point in anything of 1440p under about 27inch.

Just stick with 1920x1080 for that size - or 1920x1200 of course

I can see where you are coming from but I agree with the OP. My 15" laptop is 1080p and the pixel density is perfect. Granted I tend to sit closer to the screen on the laptop than a desktop display, so size of icons isn't such a huge issue in that case. I can see how some people might not like the smaller icons and text size but personally I would love a 24 or 25" 1440p monitor.

my pal has a 15" laptop that does 1080p and he only runs 1080 for games, as said 1080 makes general use hard on a smaller screen.

TBH it only takes a grand total of 30 seconds to make text/icons bigger. I would probably prefer 2560x1440 in a 24inch flavor than a 27 if i could get one as well a 27 inch is a bit big if you have a shallow desk.

I know where you're coming from but like someone else said, you can just make everything bigger if you didn't want to have the icons as small as they are.

I thought about it the other day since my phone is the Samsung Galaxy S4 which has a 1080p screen. I would just love to have that sort of pixel density on a bigger screen. It would just enhance my gaming experience so much. I know I'm not going to get ~440ppi on a 24" screen, but something close would just make games look incredible if they made the most of it.
