Who do you recommend getting new computer parts from?

I'm aware of 2 main suppliers in the UK-

Scan computers
Overclockers UK

There's also amazon.

However due to recent RMA issues with Scan, I won't be going back to them, plus forums are full of bad RMAs with them. I've only ever purchased a screen cleaner from Overclockers but that doesn't really count, as I haven't bought any parts from them. So any thoughts on OCUK please? thanks.

I haven't had any problems with amazon and returned some RAM in the past without any problems. However I've read that they don't package some components very well, especially Hard Drives.

So are there any other places that I could get parts from and not have problems with honouring warranties?
 
Genuinely all round considering price, RMA's and general customer service I think eBuyer are my favorite for general hardware. I always try to drive over to OCUK whenever possible though, but as everybody can't do that I guess they wouldn't have the same excellent customer service over the counter, having said that they do have decent postage options now but it all comes at a slight price premium.

I used to rate dabs as well but both me and my friend have had a couple issues with them splitting orders up into ten different pieces from various suppliers, at least OCUK have everything standing by ready. For more specialist bits Specialtech and Aquatuning are awesome. I've also bought from YoYotech and watercoolingUK without any issues personally.

Hmm OCUK are my go to site, failing that Scan or CCLOnline.

Not really had a bad RMA experience nor a good one really.
 
always have used dabs, aria and ocuk and ofc (scan)

novatech has a good ebay store, as does ccl, dabs clearance corner is one of the best
slightly used pages for gear ever :) never really had a major issue with a return, but then ive not really had that many things go wrong so...

but it might be just me, but i tend to buy certain things from certain etailers

remember looking through computer shopper or prpro mags and reading all the shops listings, man the internet killed shopping ;P
 
Overclockers, Scan, Dabs, CCL or eBuyer. I steer clear of Amazon now, far to many con artists slipping the net with their merchant selling. TBF no RMA is painless or without it's hickups.

EDIT: forgot WCUK Avoid! They used to be good, but now they are a bad apple.
 
Amazon prime, free 2 day deliveries are the best, and no hassles to return, they even refund the money before they get the item back a lot of times.

Well that's only if you buy from the merchant sellers, I only buy off Amazon directly when buying stuff from them, and not even use Amazon Fulfilled. If the specific component isn't available off Amazon directly, I just go to another retailer like Overclockers.

I wasn't sure about Ebuyer because they didn't look like a proper seller at first, I may give them a try.

eBuyer are actually my favourite retailer. Super fast. You can order Sunday and get it Monday at normal delivery costs.
 
My go to are Overclockers UK they're the only people I haven't ever had any problems with, and there customer service in my experience has been great every time. The for Water cooling Specialtech, also great customer service, one if not the best to be honest. Martyn is a god send, the most helpful guy ever. Also Scan but they have a few issues at times, I've only ever had one order that has been hitch free.

The only thing I'd say with Scan even though they're showing an item in stock, phone to check, as I as well as others have placed and order and paid for items that are showing as in stock, have had an Email at about 7pm saying your order will be delayed due to an item being unavailable.
 
The suppliers I mainly use are Ebuyer, Scan & Amazon

I've never had any issues with any I had to return some Memory to Ebuyer once, phoned them up and they were really good about it and took it back no problems at all.

Scan use DPD for they're deliveries and I think they are great as they constantly text & E-Mail you with updates on the delivery and you can also track them live.

I find Overclockers a bit pricier than the others but I've also heard that that they offer great customer service so i suppose for the piece of mind it's worth the premium.
 
I have recently been using PCParts picker for hardware shopping because it uses the websites all you have mentioned to show me the best price and then i work out best value after adding on delivery/checking today only deals.

My personal favourite is Scan but I have used Aria, ebuyer and overclockers all with great success
 
I only use Scan for components after bad experiences with OCUK, Aria and Microdirect.

Had a minor issue with Scan but it was sorted in the end by Scan.

I use Specialtech for most of my watercooling stuff, as they have a better selection that Scan, and I can cope with the slow website and high delivery prices because they stock more stuff, than Scan.
 
i have seen scan sell mother boadr and cpu combos that dont work together.. (8120 and a 3+1 95w board) this leads to the system running at slower speeds and never getting to stock speeds..
Not sure if they thought it was an earlier revision of the board that did actually do 125w 4+1. or they thought it was the 95w revision of the 8120.. but either way it was not the right combo. the buyer was totally oblivious untill i pointed it out to them.. and they stated they bought it from scan.

so i generally steer clear of things from scan. (stuff like that should not happen when you buy a bundle from a complany)

dabs are pretty good though have used tem for years now. but are sometimes more expensive on some items. but other times are less expensive on other items.
also ebuyer are good.
those are the 2 main ones i would look at for uk hardware.
 
Scan can be right arses for delaying your order due to no stock even though when you bought an item it was in stock.

I ordered a 6850 from them years ago and they cancelled my order saying they had no stock. When I called them about it the guy on the phone was really rude to me and spoke with a really bad attitude. He asked for my card details to take another payment and as soon as I gave him the last number of my card he hung up on me :\

To be fair though that is the only bad experience I have had from Scan, i've ordered a few things since and not had any probs with them.
 
The problem with Scan for me, wasn't the buying process from them, but with the RMA. Upon sending back a hard drive, obviously they would check it if it was faulty. However they said they have tested the drive and found no fault with the drive. I have seen in other forums there are many customers who receive the same outcome. In order to get the drive back I had to pay £36 in fees.

The reason why I was confident in knowing the drive was faulty because my computer broken down and it was taken to the local computer engineers. Who was repairing my computer and informed me that it was faulty, and I should send back the drive which was still under warranty. They told me that the drive had a lot of bad sectors, that the partition keeps getting corrupted and that after formatting some areas of the disk was still unreadable. The computer engineers were able to recover the data with recovery software that formats the drive. However Scan insisted that it past their tests, it was a healthy drive, able to format it and that the professionals were wrong. This was my first time RMA anything too. Some might realise on the other part of the forum but I'm able to get a certified repaired unit through the computer engineers now.

Yeah Scans RMA is a little slow, and they do test in house before making a judgement (smart) I had to return a Seidon 120m as the pump failed and waited 2 weeks then after a few emails got a reply "Sorry but we no longer stock this particular model cooler, we can either send you the Corsair H80 in its place or refund you" great service just bloody slow.
