Which to choose?

Looking at putting together a new rig seeing as my motherboard has decided to break, (cpu retention bracket) its time to upgrade as well.

was looking online and saw a "pre-built" bundle.

the question is, the mobo choice offers either :

• Gigabyte G1 Sniper3 using Z77 (IB compatible) chipset
  

or

• Asus RoG Maximus IV Extreme using the older Z68 chipset.
  

whilst the z77 chipset would give future flexibility, i assume otherwise its pretty much as the z68 sniper2 mobo.

so i guess my question is, :

which motherboard is actually better?

please give reasons as to your answer to better help me

if they are around the same price why would you not get the more future proof one?? They're both good MoBos

With the 3570k out you may aswell get the z77 board, it's not like IB has no mid range CPUs.

the Gigabyte G1 Sniper3 would be good for future proofing and pci 3.0 gpu's and is newer but the

Asus Maximus IV Extreme look's like it has better power management and audio,

(pci 3.0 is only on rev b3) more ram options and better overclocking

If it was my money i'd go for the asus

I would go for the Z77 board. If you get an Ivy Bridge CPU it will perform 5 - 15% better than the last gen Sandy's.
