Which Thermal Paste to Use on Pelt

Just a thought, the only decent thermal goo I have is coollabs liquid metal.

I got arctic ceramique for the cold side and just assumed CLabs would be ok for the hot side...

I have a feeling it wont be!

Is liquid metal ok to use on the hot side of a pelt? Yes or no.

Many thanks

No, I tried it and it's not too good. The CLabs stuff sinks into the ceramic of the pelt giving you virtually no contact. Go with ceramique on both sides mate - you won't see any decent increase by going AS5 on the hot side really. You just need something thick and goopy as the pelts are about as flat as a playing field.

I use arctic ceramique mixed with radio-shack generic thermal TIM with all cooling. Works amazingly well down to -140C then it freezes. For LN2 I use no TIM. Course I havent done ln2 in a while.

Keep that CL stuff away from it entirely tbh. Grab some Ceramique, like the others have said, it is the best all rounder for what you want.

One other thing - can I use Coollabs between the cold plate and the processor?

Or ceramique?

Definately NO. I tried this too. The CLabs stuff just disappeared leaving just water between the chip and coldplate

Cool - ceramique all the way!

Thank you peeps - sorry I haven't been contributing much recently, but this weekend I'll be back up and running! W00t!

I was going to build the rig tonight but there is a certain hot girl texting me and I'll be damned if I'm staying in on a Friday night!

Wish me luck ;)

Smith out.
