currently running my fx-57 @ 3.4ghz with 1.63v (asus A8n-sli deluxe)

my mach 2 display says -57 at idle

asus probe says -22 @idle

bios says -7 @idle?????

is the bios temp wrong?

They are most likely both wrong. I think the only way to get an accurate temperature is by placing a probe right by the core and monitoring properly :)

The mach display shows the head temp - but the calibration of the sensor is not the greatest - but it gives and indication of how the mach is performing.

The BIOS temp is using the temp probe on the CPU, ASUS probe (like speedfan or MBM) uses teh data from teh temp probe but then adds calibration to the result based on averages.

It's a bit confusing but I always look at BIOS temps,, -7 seems okay for a standard mach2 GT cooling an FX57 at those clocks.

Be mindful that under load your probably running at +3 degrees or more so for 24/7 use I'd back the volts down to 1.58v and find my best overclock at that setting for constant use (probably around 3.2Ghz). This will keep temps below freezing under load which is ideal as it reduces the risk of condensation.

Cheers

57s aren't like 55s with voltage - the clocks won't be much lower at all - certainly not as low as 3.2Ghz.

We'll see, post your results here my friend to see who's right.

Unless you add your own probe you will probably never get the real temp, if you take about 10-15C off the Mach display temp then you will give the actual head temp, and that is probably the best proxy for the CPU temp IMO.

I just ignore the temps and clock it as far as i can :p

ok my bios says like -22 idle doing 3.4 at 1.55 but mine has r507 and a chilly1 head so for a stock gt -7 seems about right the big test is if your mach2 gt goes to too hot if you put the fans on low and idle while you are overclocked
