Which solid state drive's best?

Hey people im currently looking to develop a new computer and have decided to have a solid state drive. Ive currently been looking at the 30gb OCZ Solid state series drives but am still not too sure if that's the best value for money. The decision came when i decided that i needed a good quiet workstation where it would be used for web browsing and word documents, excel, database etc.

I currently have around £100 for one and decided that around the 30gb mark would be ideal as it only going to be used for word processing etc but more storage for the price would be a bonus.

Are there currently any other solid state drives for around this price?

The cheapest i have found is the 30gb OCZ Solid state series currently at £90 on scan.co.uk

Another option is to otherwise have a quiet 2.5" laptop drive which is fast and quiet. Any opinions on which makes/models?

All help is very appreciated

Thanks in advance

there is no diffrence or benefit from useing a laptop drive v a desktop there the same thing just different size.

my velociraptors are laptop size with a desktop sized heatsink.

p.s laptop drives are no quiter in comparison to desktop drives there pretty the same.

cheers SwaleSmith i jus thought because my laptop is so quiet when in operation that it might make a difference using a laptop hdd!:D

Sorry just one of my mad moments!:p

probably just a quieter drive...if you want absolute silence SSD is the way to go and there fast too.

Search on Newegg for the drives. Lot of people give there reviews after they buy them, with the manufacturer replying to the negative posts. I've read a few that worked great when they bought them, after a few months they get slower and slower.
