So which programs do we think are worth are hard earned cash to aid us in the quest of ultimate pc performance and responsiveness? Please tell me any other additions to the poll so we can all get a nice overview ;)

I can only say ZA atm mostly out of habit and that it has a great anti-stuff engine. (I`d like to have the viral/spy stuff on it`s own minus the firewall >.<)

However, I will also add it`s not very online game friendly. Sure u can get it to co-operate, but even when it does u lose out a tad. (usually I turn it off)

Now, I am advised that NOD32 isvery friendly to gaming, but I haven`t tried it yet.

The other thingies I`ve had bad experiences with, but I will say that when I have chosen to use them I had an inclin that there were problems before-hand.

Shameful that u`d need to use such things as registry mechanic to do windows own house keeping.

Not tried any of them.

I remember zonealarm being rubbish years ago back in win95/win98 days I think, caused loads of problems with it's bad integration with the OS.

I've heard NOD32 is good for gamers, but it only got http://www.av-comparatives.org/seiten/ergebnisse_2007_02.php]advanced in the av-comparitives recent test[/url].

I use F-Secure which got Advanced+.

It has adaptive rootkit protection in the latest version, unlike other anti-rootkit programs which still work on fixed definitions.

Also is a all-in-one solution. Altho I don't use it for a firewall.

Well ive only ever paid for nod32 but i have tried Zonealarm pro, registry mechanic and spyware doctor. Not sure if adaware and spybot s&d are enough (i like spyware doctors guard thingy) but not sure if its worth the £££. Same applies to registry mechanic and zonealarm, they may do what they say they do, but maybe a free program can do equally well although I'm not sure what to compare to.

I have voted although I have not got any of them installed, I use other products which are supplied under license from work. If I did have to select one it would be NOD32 which is why it got my vote.

NOD32 is the only program I've ever considered worth anything.

In terms of Anti-Virus, that is certainly true.

Got a 3 year free subscription to McAfee with my laptop, that lasted all of 10mins before being replaced :)

You can choose more than one product guys, also plz tell me if you wish to add more to the poll...think of it as a quest for the best ;)

Wooo xp home ftw!! :p

I got office 2007 atm via my mums job (she got a home license off work to do some work at home lol)

Heh XP Pro cause I use the Remote Desktop features (both on my laptop and at home, and yes, they both have legit licenses :)).

So which software firewall do we all use? If any?

I'm intirgued by the zonealarm security suite as it seems to ave a bit more than pro, nt sure if its any good tho
