Which online game to play- I want some fun

I have finally got a bit of time where I can venture into online gaming. I would like some advice on which patches and mods I need to get before attempting to frag any veterans. I have the following games, oh and before you say where have you been all this time, I am restricted most of the time for work reasons and the occasional nagging wife, she has now got a night time job, which means i get to play :yumyum:

Half Life generations.

Unreal tournament 2004

Farcry

Fear

Brothers In Arms

Call of Duty

Quake 4

Blackhawk Down

Medal Of honour

Splinter Cell

Thats it for my games at the moment and I play each one now and again. As my job involves tactics and stuff I am generally ok at them all, but want to see how good or not I am against others now. :wavey: Thanks for the advice in advance.

Get Half Life 2 - the one that comes with counter Strike Source

counter Strike is an awesome game and we have a great server from OC3D and a really nice community :)3

I think I have got it but I am not sure if it comes with CSS I will have to go and check as it is in a box at work. I know there are a few more in there most have not been initiailsed due to lack of internet facilities in some middle eastern countries if you get my drift.

counterstrike!

The only other game in your list worth playing online imo is UT2004...but then none of the OC3D guys play it - and its not fun if you don't play against ppl you know :)

Many ppl here love the idea of shooting the OC3D mods and admins in the head with an AK :p

Ok you dont get my drift, I will not go down the line of explaining what I do for a living.

I have just been in to check if I had HL2 and am totally disappointed and am now looking to buy it so I can take part in the fun.

Found it just need to get the cheapest price now

DON'T get Counterstrike, it's bloody impossible for numb nuts like me :D

get World of Warcraft or guild Wars, far better IMHO.

(waits for the backlash from the CSS lot) :D

Each to their own. CSS is hard for a bit until you start getting good at it :)

I don't have that much time :D

I will stick at it though, if not just to get XMS off my back ranting to me every day on MSN :D

It wont take you long at all to move from 'n00b' to 'average' skill level. What take the time is going from 'average' to 'pr0'.

I was actually trying to thing of some subtle ways to 'snazz' up the Dust2 server. So far i've come up with a couple of ideas..

1. Unlimited grenades - so you can go around nading the hell outta ppl

2. Change the map to Dust2 extended

What you think? any suggestions (and don't say rotate the maps).

1: No that sucks

2: Mebbe but dunno how popular it would be

3: People like it cause it's a D2 server....that's why it's so popular

Throw in some Office or Office_extended. Personal favorite maps. Also, If you threw up a GunGame server or put it on an existing server, I would never leave :P.

It's definately a great map for DM. I wish I could host a server, unfortunately, would only be about an 8 man server. Plus, I would want to play in it, but I use linux almost all the time, although it would still be possible with a little cedega. Although, I assume you would like about a 16-24 man server. I still say Gun Game :D.
