Which monitor?

So I'm selling my 32 inch 1080p TV as I'll be going to uni in october so cant really be using that in halls as a monitor. And I already sit like 3 metres away from it anyway, so I'm looking at getting a 24inch monitor.

Any ideas?

I would like it to have HDMI, either 2, or 1 and a DVI so I can play xbox on it as well.
I dont know much about monitors so I kind of need advice. Want the best looking picture I can possibly get, also I have no idea what the difference between IPS and LCD and everything like that is.

I've looked at a few iiyamas:

Please recommend more if you know them,

Thanks

Better contrast ratio, brightness and an extra hdmi but I have personally used the 22" version of the beng one and I thought it was excellent

Well as this is gunna be lasting me at least the 3 years through uni, then probably a couple more after as i'll have no money to afford anything new, I'd prefer to spend like an extra £30 now for something better that will last longer.
What's the best I can get for say £160? Could push a bit further if there's a reason to

If you want the best picture quality possible either the Dell U2411 or HP ZR24W are what I would reccomend. They both use the same IPS panel and are essntially the same other than connectivity, where the Dell is slightly better. I have the ZR24W myself and must say the picture quality is very good. The extra money spent on either of these will get you very accurate colour reproduction in comparison to other panels so it depends how much you notice this as to whether it is worth it.

IPS stands for in plane switching, its an alternative to TN that leads to better colour reproduction and better viewing angle. The one you linked is an IPS panel yes, but I dont know anything about that one specifically. You would have to do some research, have a look for some reviews of it at somewhere that has experts on monitors. Dont want to mention anywhere specific as im not sure on the forum rules about advertising the competition.

I think mine was under £300 but Cant remember how much exactly, definitely over £250. The HP and Dell are 1920x1200 so there are a few extra pixels, slightly different panel, nothing too huge in difference. Like anything I spose, the benefit per £ goes down rapidly as price goes up!

Sorry didnt see your budget, in that case yeah the one you linked seems to have had good reviews and is IPS so id say go for it. :)

Im afraid I dont sorry, not off the top of my head anyway. You might find something a little better if you put a load of time into researching but tbh that one has a good feature list and users are giving it good reviews so its probably good.

Thank you. I havent placed the order yet no, probably wont be for a couple of weeks, when I'll have some big decisions to make :)

Everyone seems to say good things about both iiyama and dell so it'll be a difficult decision!
