The best option would be to get the wifi version and then tether it, if your smartphone supports it.

I have used Android as well but its iOS for any day. I don't like the OS, I've more issues on it than iOS. Like KING_OF_SAND has mentioned, iOS has better apps and games work better. iOS is just integrated perfectly into the hardware, simple and easy to use, not to mention it looks amazing. This is my opinion on the iOS vs Android war :)

I'm with Dipzy on this one. If you have an iPhone, or any other phone, which can be used to set up its own hotspot then I don't really see the point in having the 3G option.
The size is really up to you though.

I have the 16gb Wifi iPad 2. Apps take up max 8gb, and if you're not mad then you shouldnt really be putting tons of music and films on it anyway so I cant see the logic behind getting more than 16gb. Especially with things like kingston widrive out. Fair enough if you're going away on holiday then you may want to put a couple of films or something on, but I still think 16gb should be enough.

I also think iPads are incredibly pointless. Mine never ever gets used other than for facetime occasionally and app updates (little ocd about updates, despite the fact i never go on the apps im updating). I can see some people using them for very specific uses such as making notes for a presentation, or reading music off it instead of using sheet music, but as a general toy for emails and internet, for me, it never gets used

I got the 16Gb WiFi, iPad3
Purely for home use and the missus and very recently sent it back, just not that impressed to be honest, and it wasn't that flexible with movies music etc. May purchase another tab one day but it won't be a mac. I hear Samsung are about to release another and maybe thats where my money will be, we shall see.

With any of them you need to do your research. Once you find the proper apps and figure out what you need, you can play just about anything on an iPad 3. I even stream ripped DVDs direct from my server to my iPad. Most of the time, however, I use Netflix for movies. There literally is an app for just about anything you want to do.

The only other tablet I would consider right now is a Nexus 7, but with flash support ended on Jelly Bean and newer there's less reason to get an Android tablet.
