Hi :wavey:

Im getting a new system based on Athlon64 X2 Dual-Core 6400+ 3.2GHz

Ill be running XP Home SP3. From what I read this CPU runs hot.

Im looking at this HSF looks like high performance at a reasonable price.

What do you think?

Also look at Noctua AM2 Upgrade Kit for NHU-12 / NH-U9 Coolers link on the same page, is upgrade kit necessary and what does it do??

Here is a review page about this HSF it shows pics of its parts and pieces.

Should I get this HSF or can you suggest a better one that costs less too???

thx

I'd say go for the Noctua. I've got one in my rig. It's basically a top of the range cooler. In the box you get an included (very good) fan, spare fan clips to add another fan for push/pull setup, 2 resistors to lower the fan speed, super easy mounting kit plus bits, thermal paste, is built solid, and looks ace!

That's just my 2 cents.

Well if you want some slightly cheaper ones I think kingwin revolution RVT-12025 is good or possibly an ocz vendetta 2. From the reviews I have they're both very good coolers for a very low price, and if you want a good fan just buy a yate loon D12SL-12 they're super cheap and you can just volt mod it!
