Hi Guys, I'm about to buy one of these babies but I can't decide which one, some thoughts or comments from You might help me decide, thx in advance (case Fractal Design Define R5)

1. http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=68&lng=en

2. http://www.phanteks.com/ph-tc14pe.html

3. http://www.cryorig.com/r1-ultimate.php

p.s yes, I considered water AIOs but I want to keep the case closed and quiet as possible, and the warranty and reliability is better on air coolers, so please do not go that way :)

I'm also interested in this topic, I'd all but settled on This because for the price it's basically unbeatable. I myself am also avoiding aio because of the excessive noise.

(Not trying to thread steal... more of a free ''bump'')

From your criteria I suggest the Nocuta, the phanteks is also a lovely unit. Besides you could always just switch out the fans if you dont like that or they dont suit you in any way.

I think the Noctua is the way to go just make sure it fits the cpu socket area and the heatsinks in the cpu area on your board first and if it does then go for it

wish TTL would review this Cryorig R1 Ultimate, very interesting cooler, I think Noctua is the best of those three, but the most expensive, but in this case money is not an issue, I want the least noisy of those three so I guess Noctua is the one to choose

yeah, but it's the Universal version, very good indeed, but I'm interested in the Ultimate version, and how it performs against Noctua and Phanteks, especially noise, performance in temps is less relevant for me than noise, I've read a lot of reviews, those on techpowerup.com are very good, and the numbers are ok but it's the personal experience on closed case and direct comparison is what matters to me. I went for Noctua NH-D15 with Fractal's Define R5 with additional Fractal Design 140 mm case fan, I hope it will be silent. Maybe some member of this forum has the same setup? Now I'm waiting for delivery of selected parts, after everything is assembled I'll post a link to YT video of my rig so everyone can hear how it performs :D

I have had a couple of those cryorig fans, they look awesome, but they aren't quiet fans. They are ok at rpms below 1000 rpm, everything above will leave you utterly disappointed.
I use a Cryorig C1, but the fan has been swapped for a Noctua redoux. This might be an option for you too.

But if you want the best package go for the Nh-D15

I would grab the Phanteks, i find the NH-D15 a bit stupid because it blocks the top pci-e slot, even if that isnt the 16x slot for your video card.

The Phanteks is cheaper than the noctua and performs nearly the same. You just don't get the amazing fans that come with the noctua.

uuu Yeah, Noctua totally kicks ass, silent but cool, perfect, good I went that way, I wanted silence and performance and I got both in one package. The system is almost inaudible at low or medium loads. Now the NH-D15 sits on an overclocked AMD FX-6300 (4.5 GHz) and I get 53 C max on Prime95 (with closed case doors, Define R5), when I open it goes as low as 46C, and still very quiet, sweet. I guess when I finally switch to Intel's 4690K it will get even better :)
