Which Graphics option to go for? Help required

Future proofing never works, All of the above are a bad choice in my opinion, a single gtx 580 will do for now, and no need to upgrade until new consoles are released, because all we are getting in the way of games at the moment are console ports.

Power consumption of the 670 is far lower, and performance is far higher?

Why would you upgrade from a 460 to a 580, when the 600 series is out?

With cards like this it isnt about being able to merely run the games, it's about getting the best possible frame rates you can.

If that where me i would upgrade from a 460 to a 580, truth is the above options would future proof to a extent, if you have the bunce to throw around like that then its fine.

I remember when my pal future proofed and spent £600 on x2 7950gx2's then the 8800gtx came out and blew em out of the water in benches, he nearly though himself off a cliff, you never know whats around the corner, lol.

I really don't get why you would even think about suggesting a 580, Dipzy said that there wasn't really a budget so If you think the 670 will not future proof enough then why not suggest the 680

The 2GB Models should be fine and I only mentioned the 4 GB cards for future games that will most likely use more than 2GB of VRAM on three screens. Although, the 2 GB models should be fine for quite a while so go for two of those

Not an argument, an opinion. I think cost/performance should always be a factor but obviously not if there's no budget, duel gpu's really cause problems in my experience, i cant wait to get rid of the shite that's in my system. i really fancy a downgrade to a 580, im on a budget, and i know a 580 would serve me well with no problems at 1920x1200.

Just so you know, the 670 is a far better card than the 580, it's more power effiecient, its cooler, its quieter, its cheaper and most of all it get's better fps

The gtx 670 2gb ftw will be fine, but if their not in stock and the 4gb are then i will pick them up, and if they are not in stock too then i'll look at the 680's

Crossfire / SLI is getting far far better with newer cards and drivers. It's far less problematic now than it used to be.

I do still think the best way to go about things is to buy the best single card you can afford, and then when performance starts lacking a bit, or you want a boost get another for SLI / Crossfire...
...This logic is flawed by the fact that when you get round to buying the second card, there's newer versions out that out perform the card you have, so it's always a difficult choice.

I personally have 1 screen, and I dont particularly feel the need to get more, rendering any crossfire or sli pointless for me as I can max out framerates near enough with the one 7950 that I have. The only reason I'd do it would be because it looked cool
