Hey guys.

Need your help today. I'm looking to get new GPU's for my rig finally, last time was when the 8800GT's were released.

I want to future proof, as in skip the next gen or two and i want to get a SLI config. I'm going on holiday in September so i've got till then to decide on what to get. EVGA GTX 670's or EVGA GTX 680's. I know the GTX670's are the better option but the PCB size puts me off for some reason and i'll be running them on air for a good while so they will look out of place with their oddly placed connectors. I'm stuck, advise would be helpful :)

with what you linked, and money isnt an option, go for the 2 670 4gb? but only if you need all that vram

Not really got a budget but i don't want to upgrade for a few years, I'm pretty sure 2 670 2gb versions will be enough for a long while but will it be ok when i add 2 more screens?

Yes it is. Obviously you'll need a 680 waterblock for it as it is reference 680 PCB

I've just checked it out, looks awesome. Might go for this if its in stock when i get there

As for the RAM - it'll only make a difference if you're running multiple monitors, and if you're running 2, 2gb versions in SLI, you'll be absolutely fine on 3 screens

Fantastic choice, I expect you won't be upgrading for a good few years :L

Yup, buy them one time and skip a gen or two of gpu's :) I want my next build to be somewhat future proof and also I can't afford to upgrade every time new hardware releases

:(this is my plan also, iw as supposed to be ordering the essentials ( PSU CPU RAM, MOBO and case) this weekend but my wife found my stash of money

My parents monitor my spending so I have a account that they don't know about , i use to save up cash for pc parts

I have one of these accounts, but idiot features here (me) gave her my log in details to transfer some money from our joint account as she lost her details to hers, and saw i had a slush fund account linked which she couldnt see :P

Well if you won't be upgrading for a while and may use 3 screens in the future, than you should go for 2 4 GB 670's just to be on the safe side.

IMHO, after having the 670 for a few days, get a pair of 670's! And if you're put off by the PCB, get one of the 'custom' 670's with the 680 PCB. I have the eVGA 670 FTW edition, the one with the 680 PCB.

Yh i may consider the 4GB, hopefully there is a evga gtx 670 ftw 4gb model, if not then it will have to be the 2gb versions.

These are the ones im going for, and later on get two 680 waterblocks for em :)

You dont really need 4gb cards. If they extreme is only 3 screens, then especially in SLI I dont really think it's gunna make a difference.

Just save your money IMO and get the 2gb

It does seem overkill now i've given it some thought and saving the cash would allow me to get backplates for em

Future proofing never works, All of the poll options are a bad choice in my opinion, a single gtx 580 will do for now, and no need to upgrade until new consoles are released, because all we are getting in the way of games at the moment are console ports.
