Which fans to choose?

How quiet are exactly the quiet ones? When they are running on max, can you hear any noise or you have to put your ear next to it?

You can hear them alright. Everyone is different but I can hear them while sitting at my desk with the computer on the floor. I use speed fan and have them set to 40% they cycle up when needed.

How loud is the starting speed of the Performance fans? Is it loud and can they run quieter than the Quiet ones at max speed?

Qe fans on 12v are noticeable to me unless i start gaming then the game noise drowns out fan noise. 7v i can't hear them at all. You can get better fans for the money in my opinion for 12v use, 7v many fans perform the exact same.

Avoid spectre pro's they're fuarking shit. Noisey, grindy, whiney and expensive, unbalanced and quite frankly a load of tosh.

I bought a box of 10 on recommendation and they've pretty much all a pile of crap

Yes they really are, I'm waiting until i switch to 780's and re-do my loop before i buy any more though. (much to my dismay)
