Ok i am in the process of buying parts for my new build. should i go for two gtx 680 4gb or 2 gtx 670 4gb?

i run a rez of 5760 x 1080. i am trying to find the best one for my needs. cause this is a 200 dollar diff almost for two.

get some 7950s/7970s, the memory interface is way bigger on AMD cards, so they will do a lot better on higher resolutions.

sadly i have never had a good experience with the red team. i always have had tons of issues. as in multiple doa's tons of driver issues when i got ones that worked. shader moduels died after a week. keeps going on from there. so i have always prefered to stay nvidia.

I would stay away from AMD on that set up. Just my opinion but Crossfire isn't anywhere near as advanced as SLI atm.

I would imagine the 670s in SLI would be enough but if you can afford it it may be a better idea in the long run to get 680s. If you don't want to overclock them then the 680s will be the better choice.

It comes down to price IMO. If you can get well clocked 670s for much cheaper then go with those.

Ok so you feel that the gtx 670 4gb would be a better deal. since i am planning to oc

Yes. A good stock boosted one (at say 1085mhz) will perform around even with the 680.

You *should* in theory be able to clock them to at least 1150 or so and at that point they will edge out the 680.

Now of course you can overclock the 680 but the price to performance shrinks and you end up exposing the 680 for being too expensive.

It's the same with the 7970 and 7950. The price difference is quite big and the performance doesn't match the price difference.

Right now the 670 and 7950 are the best buys at the high end, and oddly enough the top cards are not worth the money.

The 670 FTW uses a 680 PCB.

It's also got the 680 cooler which IMO is better suited to SLI because it gets rid of the heat out of the back.

Plus EVGA RMA directly with their U.S customers so the service is better.

i think i will go with the evga one. alien i do agrea with you with that card. but i dont wana hastel with changing the pci bracket when i switch to H2o. and i dont like the blue pcb. color of my build is black and red and white

I would at least try 2 7950s/7970s and send them back under DSR/equivalent if you don't like them.

They make 680s look pathetic at this resolution
