Which bundle?

Hey guys,

I'm building a new pc primarily for 3d work, and i want to order a pre-overclocked bundle, but I cant decide which one to get. Already got a GTX285, 650 modular corsair PSU, OCZ Vertex 2E 60gb SSD and a 600T to put it all in. Would appreciate peoples opinions:

Option 1: £728

I'd get this one with the rampage 3

Option 2: £590

I'd get this one with the P6X58D mobo

I guess the question is is the R3E and the extra 0.2Ghz worth the extra £140?

Cheers

The first option has a better cooler. You'll want that Megahalems or a Noctua cooler to run 4GHz+ IMO. I'm fine with the second option, just needs better cooling.

TBH Id buy neither, you are better off buying your own bits and then clocking it yourself. Considering you are looking at pre overclocked bundles you REALLY do not need the RE3.

Would you like me to spec a system for ya dude? If you want to learn how to overclock you are on the right forum

Totally agree. That's always your best bet unless you really can't do this yourself (ie no hands, work won't let you etc).

Yeah i'd appreciate that Tom

Interestingly enough though if you buy the same components separately from OCUK it costs more than the pre-overclocked bundle, plus you get 12 months warranty

Yeah whats the budget top end matey? Ill also have a word in a few ears might be able to get you a bit of discount...

£700 for just the computer meaning no prepherials, mouse keyboard etc etc

EDIT-there is mine you could get the asus p6x58d and it would be £668,but i reckon what i chose is fine

Thanks Tom,

Defo going with i7 950, would you recommend the P6X over a UD5 or UD7?

Also, will the NH-D14 / Megahalems fit in the 600T?

Right all sorted dude got this back from CCL today:

RAM1078 - £158 / £185.65 (1600mhz Dominator GT 777-20 you will have to take the red heatsink off of one for the cooler but thats what I do with mine so dont worry

)

MBD1132 - £125.27 / £147.20

CPU7196 – £244.35 be about 3-4 days in to CCL (selling like oat cakes to someone in stoke)

CLR1058 – Stock in on Friday £49.60 / £58.28

£635.48 with free delivery. So thats a good chunk under your budget with some brilliant bits matey, will make an awesome upgrade, and we will be able to easily get you overclocked in no time. But tbh clocking is great to learn as you really get to know your system. Nearer the time you can make a new thread and I will walk you through it.
