which 690?

I would personally go with the ASUS because they are one of the big three!

Considering 670 SLI would out perform it, and would be over £100 cheaper - I'd be going with 670s
They are all made by Nvid so its what you get waranty wise and in the box that matters.
Id also get 670's but try and get the ones based on the 680 PCB so it looks manlier and you have better watercooling upgrade options down the line.

meaning that if I were to run SLI, my PCI Express slots would only be running at x8.
Would that bottleneck the cards at all? Also, I don't think it would allow me to leave an empty slot between the cards.
I don't quite want to upgrade my board yet, which is why I thought a 690 might be a good option.
What do you guys think about that situation?
Are there any non reference cooler 690's on the horizon?

i get that it's not great value. no doubt.
i have a 120hz monitor and like to be well above 60fps at all times. also, i don't want to have to worry about buying a new card for a while.
my 580 is overlocked at 900 mhz and it's fine with almost anything. however with lage scale games games life bf3, guildwars2 and planetside2 it is struggling a little (yes, planetside is in beta).
that's why i'm interested in a 690.

your 580 does not struggle with PS2, without going into too much details PS2 is in beta and they have not released all the "settings" to max out that game, once it has been fine tuned then your 580 will max it out easy.
TBH anything over 60 FPS is wasted on the human eye i certainly cant see any difference in it
the 690 i a waste of money buy 2 x 670 if you wanna waste money, 1 x 670 is enough to max all these games out,
