Which 140mm fan?

if u don't mind the colour then may i suggest the noctua nf f12's

and as 140 perhaps take a look at the be quiet dark wings ( good airflow , low noise )

Check out the Cougar Vortex HDB 140mm fans, they are a bit hard to find though and some places overcharge for them.

I took a look at the cougars and the be silent and there air pressure(Static Pressure) is low i mean like 1.38 and lower. Why would I not go with say the Akasa viper that has the static pressure of 3.12 or the apache which is at 2.75. are they just not at the same level as what I just looked at as far as build quality?

No reason, go with what you want to go with, I was just giving you another option but I thought they had a higher static pressure than that.

ok I was just seeing if there was a reason. I did notice one thing that the akasa are only rated for 50,000 hrs while the cougars and be silents as well as the noctua are rated for 150,000 hrs....

I will just be getting some 120mm fans and using an foam adapter to go from 140mm to 120mm. After doing some more reading the Akasa are cheaply made and with the foam adapters the 120mm fans out preform the 140 for now.

I had a time choosing fans but in the long run I went with NZXT's 140's not bad fams but only .81 static pressure

I finally got my Bitfenix Spectre Pro fans that I won in the Nov facebook compo. Jacky upped me to an additional fan due to the longer than anticipated wait I endured lol. So I have 4 140mm Blue Led Pros. They are great fans but can ramp up a lil on full 12v. But not unbearably loud. i like them plus the blue leds are just enough light for inside the case i done have to use my NZXT led lights anymore.

Well what would be the lowest static pressure you would go with if you were going to use the alphacool 80mm monstas? Also I am almost positive that once the static pressure becomes high enough it will become irrelevant. What does everyone here say?

I'd personally vote the Noctua NF-F12's Tom says there brilliant radiator fans, and dead quite.

140mm rad mate while 120's will work with adapters theres no room really for the added width

I'd say at least higher than 1.50 should be fine but of course the higher for that thick rad the better. also mate you wont have room to put adapters on you need to find good 140's you have maybe 2-3 mm of room on top for pull fans and no way I can see to put push fans on as the rad is 80mm thick already you have 10mm left,. most fans are 25mm thick. plus bro take my word on this 80mm thick rad is not going to do anything for temps in your case. I can run my 420 alone with 35c idle temps or 420 plus the 240 for 35c idle temps. ambient temps determine temps more than amount of rad

Thanks S_I_N. That gives me a good idea as to what I need to look for.

My final goal is to throw everything into my loop, so my cpu, 2 msi lightning 7970s chipset and mosfets. With all that I was thinking that 2 80mm rad one 420 and one 280 or 240 would be just perfect.

bro you could do all that on a 360 and 240 or if ur set on 140mm then a 420 and 280 60mm thick the lower 280 mounts are proper for 140mm spacing but you'll have to cut out the bottom of the lower fan mount to get it in. The tank keeps it from lining up

the extra 20mm thickness of the monstas arent going to buy you anything but frustration

if I had it to do over again I'd of gone with a 360 in roof and 240 in floor

ok well this is where my lack of experience comes into play because this is my first WC build. I will change my plans around and since I did cut out the top of the 5.25 bay and I will use a 420x60 and then just a 240x60 on the bottom. Thanks again for the advice!

with cutting the top of the 5.25 bay you'll have better access to it as well as being able to put a push fan on.

So after a ton of reading I think I have came down to a couple different fans.

Enermax apollish vegas 140. I like the look of this fan alot but dang is it expensive...

NoiseBlocker Black Silent Pro PK3. Great fan and it is not horribly expensive.

Scythe Slip Stream 140 PWM adjustable VR. I am leaning towards this fan the most but the only draw back is I do not know if I can go in between the PWM and the VR mode while using a fan controller. Anyone have any ideas on how to get past this?

How do they compare to the other fans you have? I'm glad they arrived in one piece.

you can definitely tell they push more air with their higher static pressure. I like them better than the NZXT ones i bought but the price on each has me waiting to buy more as i need about 8 to fill case its to much to spend at this present time lol. but I give them a thumbs up no doubt.

So since I wont be able to pick up my 420 rad till may I will be getting a 240 rad and I have been looking at the Coolermaster Blade Storm 120 and the Scythe GT ap15s has anyone used these 2 on a rad? What are your thoughts about them.

I would get the noctuas but just to expensive.
