when will WD release a new raptor?

the 150gb raptor is was released about 9 months ago now roughly

i am on the verge of buying one, but 150gb is too small for me. if they relased a 300gb one , i will buy it.

any idea based on past trends when they will release the next size up?

I reckon the next Raptor won't be for a long while, unless theyre secretly working on a SATA2 model. Rumor has it that they aren't however.

If they did, I would imagine it would probably still be 150gb. The smaller size comes hand in hand with those high RPM's.

I wanna see a Raptor rocking PRT, now that would be so gamsta.

Buy 2 and put them in Raid 0 = 300gb = winner if you have the £ that is.

You may want to look into getting a SCSI drive. You can get 300GB drives there at 10k and 15k rpms. A decent adapter is a pci-x for $70 or a pci-e I've seen for around $150. I currently run two u160 150gb scsi drives in raid-0 for my main system drive, and two 36 gb in raid1 on my server system drive (linux)

SCSI drives are just as expensive. Get 2 plain SATA2 drives and RAID them. Better value and just as fast as a raptor.
