When is Water-Cooling needed?

i'll be needing help with voltage settings eventually, so when the time comes, hopefully you'll be there, haha

Just ran into an issue with Prime95

------------------------------------------------------------

[Sun Apr 01 20:01:54 2012]

FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4

Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.

What's is that telling me?

it means you overclock is unstable and the CPU is making errors?

it can also happen if you oced your ram and that is unstable.

if its only your CPU go back and either bump up the vcore a little or drops the speed down and run the test again!

Upped my vcore, i still think i need to up it a bit more, but my error went away, since i got my first one after an hour... although, i set my cpu voltage to 1.3v, my vcore is saying ~1.2v, there is also an option for cpu/nb voltage is that the issue?

that vdroop, when you set lets say 1.3v in your bios on load it will "droop"/drop to lower volts in this case 1.2v to prevent this from happening, set vdroop to high (in bios, it may also be called load line calibration) and adjust your bios vcore to achieve the load vcore you desire.

Thanks, I'll try that out. Great help.

??? I thought our CPU's were cooled by fairy dust and unicorn wings? WTF somebody lied to me dangit... LOL. Watercooling is like AIDS, once you get it, you'll never get rid of it. LOL.

Yer bit of a waste of money, however if you have the money go for it because it is just so quiet! I spend £180 on my loop to cool an amd phenom x4 955 which was like £80.

s_i_n is correct when he says its addictive,I have been water cooling for over 8 years now and the number of upgrades to my water set up is very costly. The funny thing is I am changing my set up this weekend again.I have the FX6100 chip myself and have it overclocked to 4.6.The main reason I water cool is for the silence you get.Good Luck newbie.

What's your voltage on your FX-6100?

i have the corsair H60 with a PULL stock fan and i'm getting a max of 55 - 60 while running prime and im at 4.5 Ghz @ 1.255 volts (DO NOT use those volts on your FX chip its completely different

) so if u want to go for cheap "Watercooling" go for that its amazing for mid - mid high range overclocks, it is pretty loud when the fan ramps up so if u want silence but a slight temprature increase get the Noctua NH-D14 that makes no sound at all...

The H70,80 and 100 have loud stock fans aswell, just to let u know... u might need to spend 40$ extra on quiet fans if ur a silence freak
