looks like the wood split a bit and slid across the cpu tearing traces.

if i was delidding id use the blade method. But even then you run the risk of gouging it.
I just never liked the thoughts of hitting a block of wood in to my cpu. "although a lot of people say they prefer that method"
As far as I read, the vice method is way better. The razor method is actually more risky also because it's slower, more tedious and not everyone has stable hands
With Haswell you should orient the chip in a way IVRs could not be touched by the moving IHS
One or some more gentle hits with hammer+wood block and it's done. Just get something ( or someone ) to stop the chip from flying away
