My audio setup is the only decent part of my rig atm...

Am using a Xonar d2x with Beyerdynamic DT770's. Have the z2300 just in case but hardly ever use speakers....

How are those Canton's Dragon? nice set of speakers

They're quite good, but the tweeters could be a bit softer, as sibilance on some lower-end recordings stands out too much. Also, they're lacking a bit of low-end, but Canton has a matching subwoofer for that purpose ;), as the GLE-series are normally used in a home theater setup.

I bought them on sale at $300 (half-price), when NCIX was selling their last pair (discontinued). They're excellent for that price, considering that it cost me about $200 a few years ago to build a pair of speakers that can compare to them. I don't think I would have bought them for $600 though. (I think Canton is known to make good speakers for their price, so I might just not be used to the price tags on manufactured speakers)

I've got onboard sound card (MSI P35 Neo2-FR) with some Acoustic Engery Aego M 2.1 speakers.

Can plug an audio player into the front which is a really nice feature to add. Saves me turning my PC on to listen to my music all the time.

Must say, sound quality is brilliant. I can't even turn it up to it's maximum volume because it's so powerful. Definetely recommend these speakers to anyone. :)

I have my old trusty Sound Blaster Audigy with Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers. I wish I had a new X-Fi Fatal1ty sound card...but it does the job.

Just some creative 5.1 speaker setup. My main stereo is a Denon CD Receiver with two TDL Studio 10 floorstanders downstairs :D

I've got:

Card: Asus Xonar Essence ST,

Speakers: Logitech Z4 speakers

Headphones: Audio Technica ATH-AD500

The speakers are quite decent, but the headphones hooked up with the soundcard make some nice music. For playback I use mediamonkey with an ASIO plugin.

My Dad just bought a new setup to go with his Pana Viera.

I said he really should get surround to go with his PS3 and SkyHD.

Managed to persuade him to not buy an all in one surround package and buy a more versatile receiver with better speakers.

For the AV Receiver he went with the Onkyo TXSR507 for some Dolby DTS and TrueHD goodness. It also offers audio and video over HDMI which at this price is pretty decent.

As for the speakers, he went with a set of Jamo 5.1 A102 HCS5's .

I've been using these since September:

Creative X-fi xtremegamer

Cambridge Audio A1 mk3 Amp

2x Tannoy Mercury F1 Custom bookshelf speakers

Custom made wooden speaker stands

Before I had Creative Inspire 5.1 PC speakers. Horrible boomy bass and underpowered speakers, no mids in the setup at all. They've been relegated to surround in the lounge now, soon to be binned and replaced with something better.

I can't believe how much better a dedicated amp+speaker setup is over PC speakers. I don't know why any PC enthusiast would even bother with PC speakers, they're just not worth it.

At the moment I'm running

Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 4 in 6 out Firewire Interface

Oldschool Marantz PM-25 Amp (Was using a Samson Servo 170 but being a power amp it lacks the input flexibility of the Marantz)

Spirit Absolute 2 Monitors

Also use Samson reference and Sony Hi-Fi cans for headphone monitoring.

I still miss my Altec Lansing ADA885 4.1 set, they were awesome and the sub was so good, but I had to chuck them after the PSU caught fire for the third time and obliterated most of its PCB.

Still for sound thats true to the source and home recording it's hard to knock my setup for the money! Would love to have a sub again for those Drum n Bass moments, but the Absolute 2's are handling bass admirably for now. Must be the 6.5" woofers (one of which blew a hole in itself, but I fixed it with rizla and glue).
