This is mainly for gaming with headphones

Card 1 Asus sonar d2x (due to tom using one that must be good)
Or
Card 2 Asus ROG sonar phoebus solo

I know there going to both be good but is it worth the extra for card 2 its about £15 more

I have also been looking at the
Creative Sound blaster X-fi titanium HD
And
Creative sound blaster Zxr
I'm in a dilemma now what's the best one to go for

PS my motherboard is a gigabyte z77ud5h
With 3770k@4.5ghz

Plus I need help with headphones but I love bass mainly and I don't mind paying up to
£200 for sound card and the same for the headphones

Any help will be great

Avoid Creative imo, Asus is the way to go.

The D2X is a surround sound card, meaning that it will support up to 7.1 channel audio I think (maybe it's 5.1). The Phoebus is just a 'gaming' gimmick card imo, but it does add more base than the other cards.

If you plan on using proper headphones though, I'd recommend the STX. You sacrifice surround sound, as it only does 2.0 but it's got a great built-in headphone amp.

Essence STX paired with Beyerdynamic DT-770s or AKG K-701, depending which headphone type you prefer. Both are brilliant headphones, but with very different signature sounds. Head-fi reviews are useful.

Do you mean this stx card

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus...iophile-sound-card-optical-dolby-pro-logic-ii

It says its 7.1

Yes, that card but Scan are being noobs.
Pretty sure it only supports 2.0

Check the Asus website?

Yeah your right
Stupid question do you have to use the 4 pin molex for them to work or is the power Kent for only certain uses

Thanks for the advice tho so far seems like the one to go for

I think the STX does 7.1 via the digital connection as DD or DTS pass through and 2.0 via the headphone jack and can emulate 5.1 via software.

Surround don't bother me I just use headphones
It will be a bonus just for future reference but I don't think I will go to even 5.1 lollol

Looks cool tho

I will check them out
As long as that have good detail will powerful bass response
I love treble and loads of bass
But I don't mind if there open or closed headphones

Thanks for that
OK will have something to later having a look

The stx will simulate 7.1 via binaural audio and is superb :)

It sounds like your taste would be best suited to DT770's as these are bassier, the AKG K701's are extremely precise in the high-end (which i like) with punchy and resonsive bass but the DT770's have a bassier sound.

Enjoy either way ;)

just need the money now but it wont take long hopefully

Isn't it just!

its the only annoying thing

its a lot of money as well but im one of the only peapole in the family to spend silly amounts of money on my pc

they all think im mad but that's what i like lol

just a shame gigabyte don't do sound cards
the asus one i will be going for wont mach my rig
so now im thinking of just getting a plain side panel for my corsair 750d case so i cant see it lol

Believe me the essence is gorgeous :) It'l be fine :P

well i have been looking up both the sound card and the headphones
and every ware has that has reviewed them say there pretty much the best you can buy

now i have a problem
the headphones obviously don't have a in line volume control
the problem is i don't want to keep messing about with quitting games just to turn down or up the volume i don't like using keyboards as some times it don't work in some games

is there any extension in line volume control's that will be worth wile getting that WONT effect the sound quality
hmmmm there is always something

still going to get both the sound card and headphone but there is always complications lol

What, of course volume control works in games. On the rare occasion it doesn't you can alt-tab.
